They landed outside the shimmering gates of Everglen, Keefe right behind them.
"Oh, god, what did we just do?" Emerson was starting to freak out a little. What was up with this place?
"Light leaping. The crystals catch beams of light, allowing us to travel where we need to. It can be dangerous, though. See these nexuses on my wrists? They make sure I don't fade." Sophie explained.
"Then why didn't I fade?" Emerson was getting more and more confused.
"Wait. He just light leaped and is totally fine. That isn't normal, is it?" Keefe said.
"Okay, we need to figure you out." With that, Sophie pushed open the gates and they walked up to the house. Well, mansion, more like.
Sophie pushed open the house door and walked in without knocking.
"Alden? Della? Fitz? Is anyone here?" Sophie called.
"We're in the kitchen! Come on in." A voice answered.
Emerson nervously followed Sophie and Keefe. What was going to happen? He didn't know where he was or how he got there. Hopefully meeting Alden would get him some answers.
Keefe pushed open the kitchen door. A man, probably Alden, sat near a woman, and a boy and girl, all sharing the same dark hair and teal eyes.
"Hi, everyone," Sophie said."Sophie, Keefe. It's great to see you. Now, who's your new friend?" Alden looked at Emerson curiously.
"Oh, this is Emerson. He kinda just fell out of the sky when we were at the Sanctuary." Keefe said.
"What do you mean?" The woman asked.
"Well, one minute everything was normal, and the next, this kid just was falling through the air. I don't know how or why." Keefe shrugged."Interesting. Emerson, do you know what happened?" Alden asked.
"Not really. All of a sudden I was just falling, and I can't remember anything before it, or how I got here." Emerson said.
"Okay. This is really interesting." Alden muttered.
"Should we take him to the council? Maybe they can help, like they did with Sophie," The boy piped up, "or take him to Elwin, to see if he can help with Emerson's lack of memory.""Good suggestions, Fitz. For now, we'll just keep him here and figure out what to do next. It is getting a little late."
"Yeah, we should probably leave." Keefe chimed in, and Sophie nodded.
"Well, you two know where the leap master is." Sophie and Keefe turned and headed towards the stairs.
"Well, Emerson, you may stay here for the night. We'll figure out everything in the morning, after we've all gotten some rest." Alden said, gesturing for Emerson to follow him.
They walked up to the third floor of the house, and down a long hallway. One of the doors opened, and an older boy walked out.
"Alvar! There you are." Alden said.
"Hi, dad." Alvar said.
"Emerson, this is my oldest son, Alvar.
Alvar, this is Emerson." Emerson nodded.
"Hi," Alvar said, looking at Emerson.
He started to walk away, then turned sharply.
"Wait. Hold on. I've seen you before."________
