"What do you want?" I questioned. He stepped forward with a menacing stare. "Walk with me." I nod, not daring to decline. We step out into the warm air, not able to see much. We sat on a bench on the porch. "How did you know I had the eyes?" I asked. I wasn't too fond of any of the rules of the note. May he knew? "Mm, well. Can you keep a secret?" I nod. "Of course."
He hesitated. "I was born with the Shinigami eyes. But if I hear that anyone else knows that, I'm coming after you." I laugh nervously. He had the eyes, but why? "Oh, n-no. I understand. My father was a Shinigami." I blurted. He stared at me with an odd expression. "Well, not biologically..." I muttered. "Interesting." His head picked back up. "Wait, so why are you sneaking out?" I faced the ground and bit my lip. I explained the situation and he remained silent for a minute. "I see. Well, I wish you good luck. But to let you know; he isn't going to take this well. He may change for the worse. He cares a lot." I sighed miserably and shook my head. I tried to fight the tears.
"I know. Please, tell him that I will find him again." He shook his head. "I'm sorry to disappoint, but he will not listen to me. We resent each other. But as you wish." We sat in silence and stared at the empty sky. Getting bored, he stood up, ready to leave. "Wait!" He turned around to have me tackle him with a big hug. "Huh?"
"Thank you for listening, Beyond. You're a good person." I let go and though I didn't want to be alone I knew I had to. I watched his blurry silhouette vanish into the dark building. I stood up and left for home. As I walked on a dirt path I heard a man out of breath. He appeared to be in pain."P-please help." He sputtered. I ran to him and panicked. Whilst examining the blood on his face, the man seized my arm and wiped what appeared to be fake blood off his face. "Stop!" I yelled. I was violently thrown into a black car.
'I'm sorry Ryuk. This is all my fault, this is the end. And now I'm going to hurt others with my passing.'
I shook my head. I was determined that there was a way out. After all, I've gotten this far. I won't give up.
L's POV
I woke up to the presence of a delicate note in my hand, and an absence of security. Something felt wrong, so I turned on my lamp and read the crinkled piece of paper. Tears dripped down my face as I began to come to terms that she's gone. She will not come back.
'If she was aim danger from the start then there's no doubt they've killed her.'
I clutched my half heart pendant and wiped my tears. "No," I said firmly. "She will not die. She will live." Each time I repeated it the more I knew it was not true, until I snapped. "There's no way she could be alive, she has to be dead. There's no way a fragile girl like that could protect herself." My tears burst into sobs and Watari dashed into the room with a worried expression. I've never cried in his presence. He found the crumpled note besides me and sighed, puking me into a hug. "S-she's gone." I said through sobs. Watari's voice was low and sorrow.
"I did what I could to keep her safe, and you did the same. Lawliet, we both know she is a strong girl. She won't die." His eyes narrowed to the half pendant. "Did she give that to you?" I nodded and hugged him back with my trembling arms.
"Don't worry, she will be safe. I promise."
(Y/n)s pov
The car sped down a street of homes I've never seen. The car was old, musty and the exterior was covered in dirt. The paint chipped off and the car sounded like the transmission would die soon. It came to an abrupt half. "Now, make a sound and you're dead." He sneered. The house was lit with dim lights strung by thin wire. After examining, I looked at the man, completely terrified. "You're young. You're small, stealthy, you know who we are. And we know who your mother was. You're the last of the bloodline and we can't let you live on." I remained silent.
"You're working for us now, so you're here to steal drugs and money. Nothing you haven't done before." He shoved a paper in my face with numerous items and addresses. "Collect these by morning. If not, we will kill you. Questions?" My eyes skimmed through everything. "You want me to steal." I spat bitterly. It was not a question, nor did I expect a response. "Think you can do that, freak?" He groaned. "Don't call me that!" He glared and gave me a fowl grin. "Get the hell out of my sight. Now." I scurried out the door with the list crumpled in my grasp.

After what felt like days, I ran back to the house with unlabeled bottles and global currency. I opened the door, but looked back to gaze at the sun beaming over the horizon. The same man as before was standing in front of me, but with a new figure. He was short, tan, muscular and had black hair. "So, you actually managed." He seized the items from me with a disappointed look. He then hit me with the newspaper. "You stupid girl, this is all you could get?"'Stay calm. Don't do it, don't hurt him."
"Follow me." He said. I nodded and let him lead me to a simple room by the kitchen. There appeared to be another kid living here, but was gone at the moment. Though very dusty and dark, it was decent enough. A crack of thunder hit the air and water began to seep into the cracks of the ceiling and drip down. The door was slammed shut, leaving me startled.
"Guess I'm too late, (Y/n)."
I peered up to see Ryuk foolishly standing there. He always looked weird, but at least that never changed. I came up to him. "I'm so glad to see you, Ryuk. Please go back to the orphanage and check up on Ryu." Ryuk fled and I regret not saying more. He would've been my last chance to talk for awhile.
The stench of cigarette smoke filled my lungs and made me dizzy. The rancid smells wicked me and I flopped onto the bed, sneezed and curled up into a blanket.
'This isn't a storybook. There's no Prince Charming or happy ending, this is no dream. Please, let me wake up'.
Thank you to the people who have been reading this so far! If you guys like Beyond, I'm actually writing a story for him. Though quite different, it's something I'm proud of! :) <3 it's called The Stockholm Experiment.
Side note: I originally wrote this a few years ago and I'm not much of a fan of using 'x's pov' but I'll stick with it for now! It's so weird rewriting this TT __ TT
