My eyes fluttered open as I heard the sounds of birds chirping. It was the start to a new, wonderful day. Today was my break from work but I wasn't glad like I should have been. I missed Simone, Alex and Wayne.
"Hey, what are we going to do today?" I asked to no one, although I hoped somebody would answer me.
"The beach is the only place I can think of right now. I mean, look at that dang hot sun!" Lisa said sarcastically.
"Yes, very hot indeed" I replied.
"No, Lauren. You're still a toddler. Get back in the basement!"
"That's a pretty old joke of yours now"
"Yeah, I know. I need new ideas"
"Laur, Lise, Dan, could I have you all in the kitchen by 11 at least? We're going on a road trip!" Christina said happily as she began to take off Dani's blanket to wake her up.
"Noo....give me peace!" Dani shouted.
"ROAD TRIP! Wake up and get packing. You don't have much time Dani" Christina ordered. Guess I had to also start packing. How sad. I hated packing.
*
"Ok, what do I pack? OH MY GOD. THIS IS SO FRUSTRATING!" Lisa screamed impatiently.
"Calm your farm, Lise! Just pack your iPod and I don't know" Dani said.
Meanwhile, I was quietly packing my own bag. Water bottle. Check. Book. Check. iPod. Check. Cap. Check. Earphones for iPod. Check. Packet of chips. Check. That was all I needed, right?
"Hey Dani, this is all I need right?" I called Dani. She came over and began inspecting my bag.
"Hmm...yup, that should do"
"Alright, I'm leaving guys!" I said, practically skipping out of the door.
"Wait up!"
"Betrayer!"
*
"Ok, are we all set?" Mum asked after we were seated in the mini van.
"Yup"
"Yes"
"Alright, let's get started!" And so the road trip began. Also, I had just downloaded Candy Crush on my iPod so I was pretty much set for the whole trip.
"What are you doing?" Dani asked, peering over my shoulder.
"Just starting to play Candy Crush" I replied, already getting into it.
"Oooo, I heard it's really addictive"
"Yeah, I wonder what all the fuss is about"
"Who said they're just starting to play Candy Crush?" Lisa asked, eavesdropping into our conversation.
"Me" I replied.
"Lauren! You get addicted to games so easily. Getting addicted to this one will be the end of all of us!" Lisa complained, slapping her palms onto her forehead. Ok, otherwise known as a facepalm.
"Yeah, I'm sure it won't be as bad as Temple Run"
"Oh, sure. I've heard just how addicting that game is"
"Ok, let me play in peace now people!"
"Don't come crying to me when you realise just how addicting it is!"
And so this is how our road trip went. With everyone distracting me from Candy Crush, I barely even managed to get to level 2.
"How's it going there, Lauren?" Amy asked.
"Not that good, actually. You're all distracting me. Trust me, I won't get THAT addicted!"
"We'll just wait and see now"
*
How long was this road trip going to go for? I was already tired from playing Candy Crush and Temple Run and now I was at that stage where I had nothing to do.
"Sleep, girl, get some sleep" Lisa whispered.
"Yeah, I should"
"It's gonna be a long night, isn't it?" Amy asked tiredly.
"Yeah, pretty much guys. Might wanna get some sleep for now" Christina said.
I wanted to get home already and sleep in my own, comfy bed. I was totally cramped in this mini van I could hardly breathe! Maybe that was a little exaggeration but still, I needed to be in my own bed!
