---After I explained to Lucas, Agnes, and Shawn about what happened yesterday, they insisted that we should report the whole incident to the office, but I refused. I somehow knew who did that, I just don't have any proofs.
"I'm alright, don't worry." Lucas kept on asking me, he was really worried and it came to the point where we exchanged numbers.
"Okay." He replied unsure. "Just stick with Agnes for a while." He ordered me.
Holding my arms, she pulled me next to her and put her poker face. "Just this day."
"Good luck, lady guard." Shawn teased her that made her punched him hard in the face.
"Lessons learned, big boy?" Agnes said between gritted teeth.
I held out my hands in the air, and moved forward to separate the two. "Okay, stop." I inhaled and looked at Agnes. "I can take care of myself, you don't have to do that." I smiled at her then twisted my body to look at Lucas. I put my index finger in my lips, asking him to keep quiet, but he rushed into me and held my arm.
"Well, I'm sorry Ms. Rainsworth, but I won't accept that." He told me, giving me his serious look telling that it's final.
"But--" I muttered but Agnes patted my back.
"It's fine. And, I don't want to wait in front of the gym again not knowing what happened to you, little girl." Agnes rubbed her hands together.
"See? They're worried about you." He smiled at me sincerely.
"That time, we knew something's up... The feels, ya know?" Shawn smiled sheepishly but later on turned into a sweet smile. "Seriously. We're worried." He shook his head.
"I'm sorry." I mumbled, looking down.
"That's fine. But for now, listen to us. Roger that?" Lucas stood straight in front of me, holding out his hand, asking for a hand shake. I nodded at him and shook his hand.
"Alright, cut! Let's go Lucas. We have a game." Shawn said, picking up his bag.
"Oh, yeah." Lucas glanced at his watch. "Gotta go, ladies." He said, winking at us.
"Shoo! Reserve seats for us. Be there at 1pm." Agnes shoo-ed them away, pulling me away from the two jocks.
Here at the Caf, some students were looking at us. Surprised that I have someone to accompany me for today's lunch. I always eat here alone, always at the back part near the table where they placed the used utensils. Now I'm right here in the middle of everything... And I can feel the stares of everyone present here.
"Don't mind them." She sipped her soup, not looking at me.
"This is awkward. I can't eat like this." I sighed, tapping the table.
She glared at me, then roamed her eyes around. "I told you. Don't mind them." I looked at her uncertain, she moved her hands in her hair, making it a bit messy, then she stared at me. "You always worry about what they think about you. You have a life to live, little girl." She leaned at the chair. "Do what you think is right, not what people think is right." Still staring at me intently. "Live for yourself. In the end, it's you who goes through it, not them." Pointing each of the students around us.
I sighed. Sitting up straight, I asked her in a whisper. "If you were in my place, what are you going to do?" I looked down, aligning my index fingers together.
"When I hear a conversation and I'm the topic, I would be very happy. I would even thank them deep within my heart." She dead panned. "Of course I would be mad. But I won't let them get into me like they're getting into you." She told me. "Here's what I'll do." She leaned closer, putting her arm in the table, setting aside the soup. "I'll fake smile like a pro, chin up, and look straight, like you were never bothered by them. Sooner or later, they'll be the losers, because you will get into them." She grinned.
