A shiver ran through my body as the cold London air hit me. I tried with all my tenacity to walk but the weariness of what I had just done was pulling me down along with the constant ringing of Harry's voice in my head.
I sauntered carefully while I have to admit I was having trouble walking. It wasn't until I had walked meaningless for about an hour that the reality dawned on me.
I looked around me to register where I had reached but the surrounding was unknown. That's when panic struck me.
Harry being not a big fan of living a fast life in the middle of London, we lived on the outskirts. That explains why the roads are usually empty or why our locality is scarcely populated. So I was stuck with no idea as to where I was or where to go.
My hands instantly flew to my front and back jeans pocket to look for my phone but since I left in such emotional hurry I probably forgot to grab my phone. That's quite unlikely. But that was the truth. I did forget my phone and I had no fucking clue what to do next.
I turned around a full three sixty degree and started walking wishing I came from this direction. Hoping to retrace my path back to Harry's flat and then maybe hop onto a taxi because on this lonely road there was no trace of any living being.
The sun had almost fully settled and it was eerily and completely dark now, still not deterring me from walking. The atmosphere, on the other hand, was not very welcoming and honestly quite scary but I was determined to not think about this and simply carry on.
I walked for another ten minutes before I saw a group of men huddled together on the other side of the road. They were laughing loudly and drunkenly, if I may add and their laughter sent my body shaking. For a moment I thought my prayers were answered and probably these men could direct me in the right way but when do things ever turn out the way I want them to?
It was when the men acknowledged my presence, that they started murmuring something offensive in my direction causing me to only increase my pace. One feet in front of the other, I tried to walk fast with all my might and still look like I wasn't running. But their calls were getting louder as if they were chasing me while I didn't dare look behind thinking that might fuel their harassment ideas. Their voices due to the occasional shouts were making every hair on my body stand on its end. I decided to ignore their calls and pretend I didn't hear them.
With the sound of their feet padding against the ground getting louder, it was obvious how close they were, making me sprint in panicky response. I summed up all the courage I had left and decided to run.
Just as the thought popped into my tiny head, I saw two headlights making their way towards me and blinding me in the process. I instantly shielded my eyes with the back of my palms due to the excessive lights which seemed to grow bigger with every passing second. I only opened my eyes when the same car came to a screeching halt and I heard the sound of a door close.
"Get fucking out of here,"came Harry's scowling voice in my ears.
I blinked a few times to make myself sure I wasn't dreaming but no he really was here infront of me and looked agitated at the men.
I followed Harry's gaze and glanced around at the goons who were earlier chasing me but were now running away because of Harry's intimidating form. Relief spread all over me and I smiled to myself as I thought about how Harry just proved himself to be my knight in shining armour. Every girl's dream, right?
"Why are you smiling? Get in the car," Harry voiced still as harsh as earlier and forcibly pulling me out of my thoughts.
I did as told and shut the door subtly after me. We drove for a while and no one bothered to speak for a long time.
