In front of me stood one other than McKenna Ellis with the grin I have come to love in the past 36 hours plastered on her face.
I grin back at her as I take out my headphones to hear the words coming from her mouth.
"W-what?" I ask her to repeat herself since I did not hear a word she said. I hope she doesn't think I don't want to hear what she has to say because that could not be further from the truth.
"I said, sounds like a fun party," she repeats giggling. She giggles quite a bit but it's honestly the cutest thing I have ever witnessed and I don't think I could ever get tired of hearing it.
"I would hardly deem it as fun," I chuckle wryly. She flips over on to her butt and sits down next to me.
My heart begins to pick up its pace as McKenna's close proximity is making me nervous. How can a girl I just met have such a powerful effect on me?
I've met countless, beautiful girls but none of them have ever had such an effect on me.
"I get what you mean," she murmurs sympathetically. "At the moment I'm in charge of a slumber party for 10 seven year olds... Wouldn't say it's my ideal Friday night."
"Sounds more fun than my welcoming party," I sigh gesturing to the chaotic mess going on behind the door.
"I highly doubt it," she challenges. "If I hear another song from another Barbie movie I swear I will stab someone," she adds sweetly.
It was ironic that she was saying such harsh words but she did it her sweet angelic voice and seemed like she was talking about butterflies and rainbows.
"What?" she frets when she hears me laugh.
"Nothing, nothing, it's just that you said that in the most innocent voice possible," I laugh even louder.
She huffs as her lips form a pout but you can still see a trace of her constant McKenna grin.
We both sit their in silence, being each other's escape from our two completely different types of chaotic parties that we most definitely do not want to be apart of.
"I should probably get back in there, I doubt those little troublemakers could fend for themselves for much longer," she sighs before bringing herself to her feet.
My mood drops at the thought of her leaving as these five minutes I spent with her beside me was honestly the highlight of my night. I don't think I'm ready for it to end just yet.
"Wanna come with?" she suggests, surprising me with that request. "I know it's not the most fun way to spend tonight but I think it beats sitting out in the hallway on the floor."
"It most definitely does," I decide springing to my feet as well.

"Is there even a plot in this movie?" McKenna muses from beside me.
It is currently two a.m. and we were now halfway through either our fourth or fifth Barbie movie. This one was about her being a fairy princess or something along those lines. Point is it was incredibly dumb.
"Doesn't seem like it," I yawn. I look over and see that all the girls were completely passed out meaning McKenna and I were basically the only ones watching.
I debate whether to turn it to something more age appropriate but I am way too lazy to actually get up and do so, so I just leave it on the channel it is currently at.
All of sudden a small, round thing strikes my eye. When I hear McKenna's familiar giggle it is evident that she is up to something.
I grab the thing that fell into my lap and identify it as a piece of popcorn.
"Are you trying to start a food fight with me or something?" I ask, raising my eyebrow at her in curiously.
She shrugs innocently as she says, "I just might be."
Before I can respond, she reaches a hand into the popcorn bowl on her lap and chucks multiple kernels it at me.
"Oh it is so on," I announce grabbing some chips from the table and throwing them at her.
This becomes a full-blown food fight with the two of us throwing basically everything we can find at each other while staying as quiet as possible since we are surrounded by sleeping children.
"Okay I am too tired for this," she chuckles breathing heavily to regain her energy.
I figure that we are probably done with this "food fight" so I go and lie back down on the couch.
Taking me by suprise, McKenna comes over to me and lays down on top of me, cuddling into my body. My body tenses at the unexpected close contact between us.
"I have been told I get comfortable with people way too quickly and I don't even realize it so tell me if that is what I'm doing and I'll get up," she murmurs lowly.
When I take a moment and think it about it, I guess McKenna really is one of those people that get comfortable around people quickly. I did not even know this girl a day and a half ago but now she's cuddling me on her couch.
Honestly, I do not really see the way her personality is as a bad thing especially with a girl as amazing as McKenna. She just seems like one of those people everyone likes. I can't imagine anyone not wanting her around no matter how quickly the friendship moves.
"No," I begin as my arm instinctively wraps around her small in comparison to my large, body.
With her head pressed against my chest, resting under my chin, fitting perfectly like a puzzle piece, I realize that there is nowhere in the world I would rather be.
With her in such close proximity, my nose is filled with her beautiful scent. It reminds me of the lovely rush of scent you get when you enter Bath and Body Works.
No, I am not some weird guy with a Bath & Body Works obsession I only go there about three times a year to get my mom presents for her birthday, Mother's Day and Christmas.
Maybe I peek inside every once and a while when visiting the mall but I know that if any of my friends heard about that I surely would never hear the end of it.
"No?" she clarifies as if she's making sure.
"Yes," I confirm.
"Yes?" she asks worriedly, beginning to lift her body off of mine.
"I mean don't go," I clarify nervously hoping to not come across too desperate but my voice isn't doing quite well at that."Just stay right where you are, okay?"
She looks up at me and I am reassured when I see her familiar grin plastered on her face. I feel her grin rubbing off on my face as she settles back down into her previous position.
"Okay."
