Deep breath. In. Out. In. Out. In. In. In.

"Breathe." Her light voice whispered, barely audible as it ventured through the heavy, foggy clouds. The inevitable scorching pain gnawed through my pale tan skin. It burned, crawling to every arched and straight hair on my body.

Fire. It was roaring with strong victory, becoming stronger with every passing second. I groaned, the pain seeming all too familiar. I won't give in, I never did. The pain increased, taunting me. It felt like i was being dipped in hot lava. No, I was being drowned in a room of fire, or maybe even hell.

"Breathe, darling."

I wanted to scream at her soothing voice. Don't you think I'm trying? It was moving too slow. The high raging heat usually only lasted for so long that it was actually bearable. I would gulp down a few glasses of water and the remaining heat would slither away as if it was never there from the start.

The crawling halted. The fire tossed a little in an attempt to make itself comfortable. My eyes widen, stretching wider than they were supposed to. The pain emanating from my eye socket was a plain joke to the flames flaring in my throat. I opened my mouth, expecting lava and flames to sprout from it but nothing came out, not even a single breath.

"Honey, breathe!" the once calm voice was traumatized with a mixture of horror and fear. I heard her heart picked up speed, running instead of walking miles. If i could, I would take away all the worries and pain laced in her every heart beat, her every breath. But, I can't.

The shouts were drowned out by the raging toss of flames. My eyes began to burn, forcing my eyelid shut to ease the pain. Instead of darkness greeting me, I was surrounded by red. Blood red flames, drained down the walls, staining the small bubble of sanity that was kept from eye-sight.

"Please, breathe..." It was so far, perhaps a few miles away. Yet so frightened, the voice was filled with soothing words, maybe even hope...very little hope.

My eyes popped open and I gasped. The once bright red dripped into a darker shade, creating an endless mass of darkness. The screaming sound of her voice fainted into the back ground with the sound of light pop.

And this time, this time...I was truly drowning.
