"You are quite persistent, aren't you, [l/n]?" It was him. It was his voice speaking to you. His voice was like nails on a chalkboard. It was Kyoya Ootori. It had been a week since you started at Ouran. Only a week being in the same middle school third year class as him, and he already had a major thing against you.
You were on a scholarship for Ouran academy. Since you had skipped a grade a few years back, you originally were supposed to be in Ouran's high school. You were supposed to be in a high school classroom right now, only the chairman decided that since your age said you were supposed to be in a middle school class, a middle school class you would be in. You had no objections. You figured it would be better to be with those your own age. And besides, Ouran's education was said to be better, and so the curriculum should be different from that which you had learned anyway.
"I am surprised you can handle the classes here." He spoke to you again. "Being a commoner and all." His glare was intimidating.
Although none of the other students ever saw it, Kyoya bullied you everyday. "Please, just leave me alone, Ootori." You responded to him, hanging your head to avoid eye contact.

"We'll see how long you last here." He commented as you sat in your seat. He pushed up his glasses, smirking.
Your confrontations with him could be avoided by switching back to a public school, but there's two reasons you didn't. The first reason being that bullies exist everywhere; without Kyoya bullying you, someone else would only take his place. The second reason being that if you left Ouran, you would only be proving him right. He would win.
Over the next few months the bullying got worse.
Whenever the teacher asked you to explain or elaborate on something, you would say everything you knew about it. Your knowledge being vast; you knew a lot about a lot of stuff. Making sure no one noticed or overheard, he'd whisper in your ear, "Do you think anyone actually cares? You commoner nerd." You knew it shouldn't, but it really bothered you. Why did the teacher seat us beside each other? You would think.
You were at the top of the class along with Kyoya, and he didn't like that. But the bullying at least stayed verbal, until you surpassed him, that is. Once your grades were better than his, the bullying became worse.
And more than just verbal...
