Her thoughts were all obliterated. Alice heard the gravel stifling under Cage's feet while he paced back – and – forth. She was on her knees forcing herself not to focus on the forest; dark and dead as was the night.

Alice laid her head onto Jessie's cold corpse. She blindly moved her hands across the leaves to find them gripping his shoulders. Every memory she had with him slipped into view dimly; The day they told each other they loved each other even though the world was ending, when they felt safe together for the first time since World War |||.

She tried not to fall apart but, an unintelligible whimper arose from her chest that shattered into the distance. Her tears fell onto the body of the man she loved.

"Why does your kind hold on as if something is still there?", Cage asked, confused. " I would like to help, to falter your bad emotions, but I am not of your kind. We don't feel the same as humans, we see past what you do. Please, would you look at him? He is dead.".

Cage's words made Alice flinch, tensing herself, grabbing Jessie's corpse even tighter. She felt how cold he was, the stone hard texture of his body, and thought of how earlier she had seen his distant and dead eyes. He was different, he didn't look like himself, yet, he did.

"Because Cage," she whispered through her torture, " I love him", her words shattered upon that sentence.

"Alice", he paused, "Alice Vince I love y-", Alice cut him off, "NO! Cage you aren't like me." Alice lifted her head piercing her gaze into Cage's emotionless eyes.

"You aren't human, you can't love. Just because you know my whole name doesn't prove your "love". You will never understand what love really feels like. You well know your brain isn't even made like. Your kind can only feel possessive. That is your strongest emotion." Alice dug her nails into her thighs, the depression she just felt twisting into an anger that made everything around her fade into a red blur.

"Jessie is gone. We can be together now." Cage said trying to fake a smile.

How could he think I want to be with him just after finding the person I love most dead? she thought.

"Jessie is dead." she repeated his words harshly, "and you're acting so fine with that. You killed him didn't you?" her eyes burned with a passionate and hateful type of accusation.

"Alice?" Cage stepped forward, still not understanding her emotions, his head only filled with desire. "I didn't kill him, we both know we just found him," he paused "like this." he gestured to Jessie's bloody corpse that looked like a hatchet had entered it at least 30 times.

Alice felt her fingers dig into the dirt ferociously as she got up and lunged at Cage. Her eyes, that of an animal. Alice slammed him down to the ground and dug her knees into his shoulders pinning him down with the strength of pure adrenaline. "Say you are sorry for killing him, Cage." her were psychotic as she talked with a low crazed voice.

Cage was in a tremendous amount of pain and he realized he couldn't get her off him, she would kill him if he didn't respond. "I'm sorry." he said confused as his lungs were being crushed.

Why does she think I killed him? he thought panicked.

Like gasoline tossed into a fire Alice lit up, so angry and terrifying she was unrecognizable. "You liar!" she shouted deafeningly. "You can't feel sorry!".

Her hands were now at his neck digging in like broken glass. She looked deeply into his eyes – the whites were almost a solid red – as the dark side of her gave out a low decisive laugh.

Everything grew quiet other than the small pathetic sounds Cage gave as he scratched away the skin on Alice's hands, which she didn't notice.

As Alice watched him slipping away she leaned in closely to his ears letting him hear these last words, " People drift away as they die, but werewolves," she growled, "are a slow kill that let's you see everything they feel in their eyes, you terrified, weak, animal.". Her smile was deadly. Cage's eyes slowly faded of color and terror just as his heart slowed to a stop. The bloody tears he had shed were soaking into his now lifeless skin.

She could see he was dead but her nails dug into his skin tissue further. Her senses started flowing back and she could feel her hands burning. She realized he had ripped off her skin and it hurt.

The blaring voices in her head started to recede when she was crying. Her breathing was slowing till she realized what she had just done. She had just killed a person, her closest friend. And she realized it was for no reason too. She removed her burning hands, shaking.

"Finally" a hollow voice uttered quietly. Alice froze as her normal human instincts and terrified emotions were flooding back.

"What?" she breathed.

There was no response. "Who are you?" she asked, utterly terrified and confused.

"I", the voice paused in thought, "I am someone who keeps secrets. Who,", it stumbled off, "tells lies. Who steals and who sins.", she heard it's lips curve into a smile, "I'm also the person who really killed Jessie." it laughed "and Cage.". The voice was terrible, rough, and sick like razor blades, but it sounded like it was in her head somehow.

Her lips trembled as she asked faintly, "What is your name?", almost too quiet to hear.

"Alice Vince", it replied.
