Chapter 21
The Christmas holidays were soon over and before I knew it I had sat my January exams. The next thing I knew my birthday was fast approaching and Ben seemed more excited than me.
Sitting on the couch with my legs on his lap I struggled through the geography homework Ben had set us earlier today. Placing the pen I was using in my mouth I chewed on the end as I read the question for the fourth time.
"What are you stuck on Goofy?" Ben chuckled as he pulled me closer so my bum was pressed against the side of his legs. Shifting slightly he angled himself so he could read the set of questions I was currently completing.
"Who says I'm stuck?" I defended as I tried to focus on the writing before me but all I could concentrate on was the feel of Ben's fingers running along my legs.
"They way you're chewing that pen," Ben responded as his eyes flickered down to my lips. His took in a sharp intake of breath before he dragged his gaze back up to my eyes. Smirking slightly I continued to chew on my pen.
Gesturing to the question I was stuck on I saw his eyes quickly scan the question before he smiled enthusiastically. He really was such a geography nerd. It was actually adorable how much he loved his subject and how excited he would get when explaining everything to us in class. I wish more teachers loved their subjects as much as him.
"You're really going to have to come to terms with offshore bars," Ben said as his eyes left the page for my own. Sighing I chucked my pen down into the pad in front off me. Why did they have to be so confusing? I understood how an onshore bar was formed, it was actually relatively straight forward. However, I could never quite seem to understand offshore ones.
"I know," I whined. "Do it for me?" I grinned as I raised my eyebrow at him. He immediately refused. Another thing Ben would not do was ever do my homework or give me higher grades. He would always give me the grade I truly deserved and help me with my homework but never give me the answers. As much as I hated it sometimes I knew it was the right thing to do so loved him for it.
"Ok," I sighed. "Explain it to me again?" I asked and Ben happily leaped into another explanation of an offshore bar and how they were formed.
Once he had finished I think I had finally grasped the basics so scribbled down as much as I could remember, not really sure if I was actually answering the question, and moved onto the next one.
However, before I could finish it Ben started to talk. "So is there anything you want for your birthday?" He asked as he gave my legs a squeeze. Looking up from my homework I smiled at him.
"Don't get my anything," I said with a shrug. I would honestly just rather spend the day with him than he waste his money on me.
"I'm going to get you something," he said with a laugh. "But is there anything you want in particular?" He continued and I knew by his voice there was no room for discussion.
"Well there is one thing," I said as I raised my eyebrow at him. "But we agreed not to do that, so spending the day with you is all I want."
"I'm still going to buy you something," he grinned proudly as he pulled me onto his lap and wrapped his arms around my waist. Looping my arms round my neck I pressed my forehead to his as I grinned.
"Surprise me," I said.
"I thought you hated surprises?" He countered. His warm breath ran across my skin, tickling it. With my eyes locked to his I leaned in towards him.
"I think I can make an exception," and as the words left my mouth I slowly pressed my lips to his. After all this time he could still turn my body turn to jelly with just one kiss. I didn't think it was possible for anyone to make me feel this way.
