Sometimes you wake up to discover that you are less of a person than you want to be. In a terrible situation you’d like to think that you’d be movie style heroic, and if faced with the terrible decision you could sacrifice yourself to save everyone else, with a tearful goodbye and not too much trouble. In the cinema you see people do just this and occasionally you hear of real life heroes on the news.

I had a dream that I’d like to remember forever. I had to be in a particular shop at a particular time, when a plane would crash into it. And by the laws of dreams if I was there when the plane crashed into the shop, London wouldn’t blow up. I knew this, and I was being forced to go. I begged and cried not to be sent there. My parents who had already apparently accepted my death weren’t very consoling and told me to go. The desperation I felt was something I have never felt before. I cried and cried but before the dream concluded I woke up still sobbing.
