Ugh...."Are we there yet?" I ask impatiently, my vision still blinded by the blindfold.
"We're almost there," Taylor told me. I crossed my hands and lean on the backrest, muttering things that I could to him. It's almost been fifteen minutes since he drove me. I mean, really? What is this 'place' is he talking about?
If the next thing I knew that I'm a dark alley, full and big, hairy men surrounding me, I'm running away after I slap Taylor hard.
"Ouch!" A sudden screech of tires followed by an immediate stop made me bump my head into the glove compartment. "Next time if you drive, can you puh-lease slow down before we reach our destination," I complained.
"Sorry," he apologized meaninglessly. I mutter curses to him as I tried to pull my blindfold, but Taylor grabbed my hands before I could touch it. "Not yet. We have walk to it," he inform.
"If this involves going many and many meters, I'm going home," I complain again.
"Stop it, Taylor. You're making me having a bad day too."
"Well, you deserved it!" I spat, finding wherever his voice is.
He mumbled something I couldn't hear as he got out of the car. I waited ever so 'patiently' for him to get to the other side. He opened the car door as he grabbed my hand. He pulled me to God knows where are we going.
We walked in silence – nothing new; nothing exciting. I had my mind wondering on the places I could have known. Can it be the train-tracks, the little café up the hill, or the hill where one could see the city? Wherever it could be, I just hope I could at least see something amazing. Imagine what a miracle would be if all my loved ones would throw me a party, not being dragged by a betrayer.
Then I felt snow-covered rocks underneath my feet, the cold air blowing through me, and sounds of wild animals whispering around me. My curiosity grew inside me and there's a tinge of anxiety piercing me. "Where are we?" I ask uneasily.
"It's nothing to worry. In fact, it's a lovely place to visit," he reassured me.
"Yeah right," I doubted him.
"You're so grumpy, Taylor. Why don't you at least smile for a second? Sheesh!" He remarked harshly.
Well, if you would have guts to actually tell me that you like rather than to kiss me like that, I would be actually happy because I don't have any freakin company on my birthday!
I keep hearing the slushing of snow under my feet as the temperature drops colder than before. Brr! I just wish this walk would be worth it.
"We're here," Taylor said enthusiastically. Yeah right, as if something amazing will happen.
"Whatever it is," I said I untie my blindfold, "I hope it's–" I stop mid-sentence. My eyes are seeing something that my mind doesn't even believe. My mouth hang open while I caught Taylor grinning.
He was right. This is a place that I was familiar of. There, in front of me, lies the recognizable lake that I went with Harry on Valentine's. The exception is that the lake is frozen as it reflects moonlight like a giant mirror. The port, which is now bigger, is decorated with a large table fit for ten people. Candlesticks are lit, plates, utensils and other are being set, and a buffet table is placed near it. Above the port is some glass lanterns and paper airplane figures decorated. The trees around the lake is being covered in yellow light to brighten the place. What truly amazed me the most is when I saw a banner hanged above me. It says HAPPY BIRTHDAY in a festive and colorful way.
