CHAPTER 7:
Kayla's POV
***
We all stood in front of a confused Mrs. Miller.
"Hello, how may I help you?" She asked. I could tell she was trying to place who we were, but it wasn't happening.
My Mom responded saying, "Hello! We're the Parker's who just moved in next door. This is my son Kyle and my daughter Kayla, and I'm Marie. I thought it would be a great idea to meet you guys because Kayla is friends with your son."
Mrs. Millers face went from total confusion to generally happy. "Yes, I thought I recognized Kayla! Well I'm Kristen, it's nice to see new faces around here! Please come in." Kristen opened the door more and we all came in and sat in the living room.
"Jake! Jenny! Come down here!" She shouted up the stairs.
Kristen took a seat on one couch with my Mom and me and Kyle took the other couch. We all waited a minute or two until there were footsteps on the stairs.
"Yeah Mom? What--" Jake cut himself off when he saw all of us in the living room.
Kristen gestured towards the couch. "Take a seat Jake, were just waiting for Jenny." Jake sat on the right of me while Kyle sat on the left.
"Hey, long time no see." Jake said nudging my arm.
I let out a small laugh, "Yeah, I thought I was done dealing with you for the day."
"Hurtful." He put his hand over his heart faking hurt which caused me to laugh again.
More footsteps were heard on the stairs until Jenny was revealed. She gave us a puzzled look and then faced her Mom. "What's--"
"Take a seat, Jenny," Kristen said gesturing towards the couch again. She took her seat on the left of Kyle- it was the only seat left- and waited for her Mom to talk again.
"Jake, Jenny, these are our new neighbors. Say hello to Kayla, Kyle and Mrs. Parker." Jake and Jenny said hello and then Kristen spoke again, "Why don't you kids go do something while me and Mrs. Parker get to know one another?"
"Okay." Jake stood up and we all followed him. He led us down to the basement, I haven't been in my basement yet. His was huge, there was a large space and 3 doors spread throughout the basement that led to unknown rooms.
"So, what do you guys wanna do?" Jenny asked looking at both me and Kyle.
We ended up all watching a scary movie in the theater. Turns out one of the three doors was a movie theater. Jake pulled me into the seat next to him so Kyle and Jenny were by each other and me and Jake were next to each other.
I'm not sure when, but at some point during the movie I was comforted by Jake's arm resting over my shoulders and pulling me closer to him.
It was fun bonding time with the Miller family, hopefully we can do it again.
***
"Class dismissed," Mrs. Potts said, "Don't forget the creative writing assignment is due tomorrow."
Everyone stood up and rushed out of the room. You can't have Language Arts at the end of the day on Monday, you get too tired and can't focus. My writing assignment was only 3 sentences so far.
"Did you finish?" I asked Jake while picking up my books and walking into the crowded halls.
"Nope. I didn't even start, but I have an idea." He replied with a smirk.
"What is it?" I asked.
He shook his head, "Not telling."
I wanted to protest that he tell me, but decided to back off. "Fine." After a few moments of silence I asked, "Can you take me home?"
He leaned against the locker that was next to mine as I packed my book bag. "Sure, but why can't Kyle?"
"Don't you remember? We have another detention for missing detention." The three days that me and Jake didn't talk we ended up skipping detention. Doing so earned us another week of it.
"How could I forget?" Sarcasm was laced in his voice. "I wonder how Jenny will get home."
I pulled out my phone and texted Kyle. "Kyle will take care of it."
"Thanks. Are you up for another skipped detention?"
"You really want another week of it don't you?" I slammed my locker shut and put my bag over my shoulder.
A smirk took over his face as he said, "We can skip those too." I playfully hit his arm as we started to walk to detention.

Jake's POV
***
Reading over the words again and again, I finally decided it was okay and shoved it into my Language Arts folder.
Before I could even think about taking them out again the door opened and shut with a loud bang. I quickly went down the hall to the railing to see Jenny walk through the front door.
I leaned across the railing with a smirk as I said, "Somebodies late."
She jerked in shock before saying, "Jake you almost gave me a heart attack!"
"Why are you back later then me when I was the one in after school detention?" I avoided her remark knowing she was exaggerating.
"I was hanging out with Kyle." She said with a shrug.
"Where? What did you guys do?"
"Stop being so nosy, it's none of your business." She snapped walking into the kitchen.
I guess shes not in the mood to talk right now. Or was I being too nosy? I'm her older brother though, I'm aloud to be nosy.
Moving from the railing, I walked back to my room and out onto the balcony. The last thing I was excepting to see was her.
She did a bunch of flip things on the sand then landed perfectly. I clapped loudly and she pulled her attention to me.
"How long have you been up there?" Kayla shouted up at me.
"Long enough to know your a good cheerleader." I replied.
I couldn't even name half of the things she was doing down there. They just looked so perfect and actually kind of cool.
"Come on down! I'll show you more." She said and I nodded.
When I got down to the beach she was out of her baggy shirt and black shorts and in her hot pink bikini. The color really made her olive skin and dark brown hair stand out.
I was zoned out of my thoughts when I felt a slap. "Stop checking me out, I changed because it was hot not so you could eye rape me."
I felt heat come to my face, but forced it back. Pulling off my gray T-shirt I replied, "Your right it is hot."
Her eyes kept traveling away from mine and down to the muscle in my arms and stomach. My smirk took over my face as I noticed she was trying to fight it.
"You can stop eye raping me too." Unlike me, she wasn't able to hide the red on her face.
"Well I'm gonna start- um- you know- yeah okay." She moved away from me and did a backflip and many other foreign terms.
"What are those called?" I asked.
"I'll teach you." She did a backflip with her hands and said, "That's a back handspring." Then she did a backflip without her hands and landed closer to me. "That's called a back tuck." She did two twisting back flips and landed right in front of me and turned around to face me. "And thats a double." She said faintly.
Kayla was so close that I could kiss her if I wanted to. Our bodies were pretty much an inch apart, not to mention we weren't fully clothed. "I can stunt too." Her eyes trailed down the my chest and then back up to my eyes. "Think you could lift me?"
I picked her up bridal style, "Of course. You don't doubt these muscles." She laughed and stepped out of my arms.
"Alright lets do it." She explained to me that I had to lift her up over my head and hold onto her feet. When she jumps down, I catch her.
I held her up in the air and she did many things that seemed like they hurt, but it didn't faze her. "Ready?" She asked and I nodded in response. "On the count of three. 1- 2- 3."
She came crashing down and I cached her bridal style. "That was amazing." I said quietly.
Looking up into my eyes she said, "Thank you. Your a great base."
I smiled at her and I just couldn't take it anymore. That's when I--
