I am a Black Woman
A dark skin black woman
Why can't I just be a women?
A woman who doesn't have to worry about being
labeled as angry
simply because I disagree with your opinion
and wish to speak passionately over the topic
Why can't I just be a woman?
A woman who doesn't have to worry about if her crush
is into black girls
specifically dark skin girls
because society has told him we're
too loud
too angry
too opinionated
too money hungry
too mean
Ok, well some of us are angry
We're angry, no livid because
We have to constantly defend ourselves against any and everyone
We're too loud because
Our voices are never heard over everyone constantly degrading us
and making us out to be something we're not
We're opinionated, or unwilling to compromise
because we always have to give up pieces of ourselves to
fit in with other women
who might or might not willingly submit to society views
We're money hungry?
maybe it's because we would like the opportunity to have someone spoil us
someone that is willing to show us kindness that
other women are given with no hesitation
We're mean
because the world is mean to us
Why can't we and by we I mean all black women
just be women?
Women who don't have to worry about the stereotypes
the world puts on us
