"Why don't we forget about what happened and focus on our plan. I'm going to read you the new schedule, after which we can both search for information." Borgina stated.
"Sounds good." He replied. "I hope this schedule provides more resting time."
Nathan was wrong. The manageable pockets were extended to contain twenty hours, leaving just four hours for 'lights out'. He was assigned to building missile navigation systems, which was something he did back at his job on Earth. While he enjoyed doing it back then, he felt completely different about it now. Back on Earth, it was a job he got paid to do, and he did it within reasonable working hours. Here on MoonEx, he was ordered to do it by a Ruling Council that didn't exist. He was already struggling with the nineteen hours 'daytime' and had no clue how to survive an extra hour.
"Twenty freaking hours!" He exclaimed.
"That's right, twenty." Borgina replied.
"How the hell am I supposed to stay awake for that long?"
"The human body has an unprecedented ability to adapt. You'll get used to it." She replied.
Nathan could not believe his ears. Borgina sounded just like Colonel Ford with that last statement.
"Borgina, even adaptation requires time. We're expected to start tomorrow."
"You can steal coffee from the store if you want." Her reply was accompanied by the mirthful laughter that Nathan found funny.
"No thanks!"
"You'll be alright. I promise." She encouraged him.
Borgina continued to read the schedule out to Nathan. According to the task summary, he was to design navigation systems to direct the missiles to their predetermined targets. The missiles were to be launched into space whenever an alien warship was spotted. Their aim was to destroy the warship before it actually gained entrance into the colony. Nathan was to work closely with pilots, astronauts, physicists, chemical engineers... basically everyone who had the expertise to make it happen. Somehow, everyone needed to achieve this goal was already present on MoonEx.
Nathan knew this was not the time to ask questions. He had done that for way too long. It was time to find answers and that was exactly what he was going to do.
"Thanks, Borgina. My first assignment doesn't start until a couple of hours, so I need to get in the zone now. I want to work as fast as I can to uncover the truth."
