Megan'sOdyssey
Prologue
Megan was a horse rancher in Montana who owned five hundred horses of varying breeds. Her ranch was three hundred and fifty acres. One hundred and fifty of her horses were received from various rescue organizations around the world. The rest were bought from people she knew, both locally, and online. While she had grown up in Maine with her sister and parents, she had always dreamed of owning and helping horses.
In 1991, her parents Cora and Steven divorced. Steven moved to the state of New Jersey, and her mom stayed in Maine. Megan and her sister were teenagers when they divorced. Megan had been close to her dad since she was a child, and the divorce devastated her. Her father was a short man and she inherited his complexion of tanned skin and height of five feet four inches. Her eyes were green and her hair dark, like the exterior of almonds. Their mom fell into a drinking habit soon after the divorce, so Megan and her sister had to care for each other during those hard times. At twenty one, Megan attended her sister's wedding to Alex Anderson in New Hampshire. It was a beautiful wedding and Megan was proud of Ashley for finding her soul mate.
One day, after her twenty fourth birthday, while at a local convenience store in Maine,Megan had a tingling feeling in her mind. Having never bought in on the lottery before, the sudden urge to purchase a ticket was strange for her. Not thinking twice she asked the older man behind the counter for a ticket to the jackpot and used hers and her sisters birthday's, rearranged, as the numbers. She watched with anticipation that night as the television counted off the numbers. Each one was one she had chosen. Shrieking with joy, Megan then decided she would move to Montana to be a horse rancher. She then bought a three hundred and fifty acre land plot where her new home would be.
With the help of her friends, sister, brother-in-law, and dad, as well as a team of hired contractors, they built a barn with five hundred stalls and a beautiful house. It was so beautiful that it made her cry with tears of joy. Then two years later, she hired forty work hands to help her ready the stalls for the horses and maintain the land and horses with her. Once they arrived, within three and a half months they got the mall settled in. Megan then got a surprise from one of her friends who helped deliver the horses. It was an appaloosa whose brown and white spotted body caused Megan to fall in love with her instantly. She named her Rose. She gave her a halter that was blue and pink with glittering stones along the sides. Then she put her in a stall and fed her some oats. Her dad Steven helped her with the vet fees. He was a business owner of a company he made called The Horse Forever Vet Program.
The ranch was a huge success and Megan was a natural in buying and selling horses. A few of her horses even found their way into racing and some racers sired several of her horses to theirs for even more money. Megan's father got her huge discounts on vet fees but with the success of her ranch, she almost did not need the aid. Within the two years since the ranch opened she had doubled her lottery winnings in ranch operations and was able to hire more hands and buy out larger plots of land for all the horses.
***********
Far away from Megan and her ranch, in the Appalachian Mountains, lived a dragon, ancient and powerful. It was the last of its kind which were the Leganos dragons. His breed of dragon were a poison type with poison barbs on the end of their tails. His eyes were the color of sapphires. He was over thirty feet from head to tail and sported a wingspan of fifty feet to keep him aloft in the air. He had hatched in a cave on the alps at a mere six feet in length. His parents had perished years before so he had to learn how to fend for himself. At fifteen he learned to breathe fire and fly. He could defend his territory well by the age of twenty five. In the years to pass he had to travel to different locations to keep from being seen or hunted.
