The Flames Inside

Like a dragon spitting fire
His words burn my very soul
Intense heat building up inside,
Flowing through my entire body

There is nothing rational about this
His cold voice fuels the flames
Calm words make mine harsh
His face blank makes mine explode

My insides are melting
Overpowered by the flames
Undeterred by the water flowing from his lips

I want to make that water overflow
I want to make that water boil
I want to make him feel this pain
That he insists on putting me through

I am the innocent party
Why must I be attacked like a villain?
All I am guilty of
Is the crime of loving him

Glares are exchanged
I have been pinned in my place
As he leaves
Taking half of my heart along with him
