I woke up. My breathing heavy. I pulled the blanket off my sweat covered body and walked over to the open window. I inhaled deeply and could feel the cold night air filling my lungs. My mind slowly began to clear as I stood there, hands resting against the window frame.
I listened to the whispering of the ocean as it slowly caressed the shore. The rustle of the wind in the trees that looked dark and mysterious in the soft, silver light of the moon. Somewhere off in the distance cooed a night bird.
It had been three years since the accident. The memories, still so vivid, haunted my mind in these sleepless nights. I don't think they will ever go away.
After half an hour or so, when the cool breeze made my body shiver, I closed the window. Walking back to my bed I cuddled myself underneath the now dry covers.
