where I'm from

I am from a lavender breeze,

From the cream my mother loves and the fabreeze that inhibits the air .

I am from the house of hope

(smiles and the ringing of laughter)

It felt like no wrong could be done.

I am from the sakura tree,

The lotus in the stream.

whose roots withheld their will,

And strength is much like mine.

I'm from the sweets and the glasses,

From Moises and Marisol.

I'm from the try-your-best

And the-never-give-up.

From be yourself! And have confidence!

I'm from believe in HIM above,

For the church is just a building.

I'm from hialeah

(though my spirit is colombian),

From bandeja paisa and all natural fruits.

from a father who was rebellious and courageous,

surviving attacks for his acts.

and a mother loving and devoted,

 advisor to family problems.

All round my house

lies memories engraved,

a sea of faces remembered and never lost

To splash me and my mind.

i am from those times-

captured before i flew-

A new raven from the nest on the tree.
