I was just outside when the very familiar sent hit me. I was hidden in the shadows of the school so no one would see me. I saw a black Lamborghini pull into the school parking lot. I immediately knew it was the alpha from the pack of werewolf's that lived and protected my town. But that wasn't the intoxicating sent filling my nose. It was Kat. I figured Jace must've given her a ride to school. I was still mad at myself for sneaking into her room last night. Her thoughts her vibrating through my mind. The pain she dreamt of when I was near. I regretted doing that to her. I wondered if she has told Jace about her dream.

It felt wrong but I quickly searched her mind for any memory of her telling Jace. Luckily there was none. But I suddenly saw an image in her mind. Of Jace leaning toward her. Trying to kiss her. I didn't know what came over me but I willed the school bell to ring and it did on my command. I couldn't let Jace claim her. I liked her so I wanted a chance. I wouldn't have long. She was soon going to graduate next year, get married to that mate of hers, grow old, and soon die. And I'll be seventeen forever. Moving to a new city almost every other year. Only to come home once or twice a century.

Now you might be asking yourself what I'm talking about. How can I stay the same age forever and coming home once or twice a century. Well, that's easy. I'm an immortal. I know, shocking at first but I've been seventeen for about 200 years. I don't know who turned me or why but the last thing I remember before I died was entering my dark house and flipping a switch. Then that's it. I woke up in the woods about three days later. My clothes were singed and holes were burned all over what I was wearing. Like someone tried to burn me. I heard the snap of a twig and quickly stood up. I didn't feel light headed or dizzy at all. Just.... alive. Alive, but dead.

Being an immortal is different from the stupid Vampire lore. Vampires do not exist. I do not suck blood. I am not allergic to garlic and the sun does not hurt me.

I saw Jace storm into the school with Kat chasing after him. They quickly went inside. I didn't hear anything but I knew he was mad. He knew it was me who set off the school bell. I was going to get a mouthful from that self-centered jerk. I noted that he had put a block up knowing I would try to peak into his brain and read what he was thinking. He was probably talking to one of his pack members.

The girls locker room. No one will be there.

Kats thought entered my head and vibrated through mind. I didn't know why but something was pulling me toward her. I snuck into the school using my amplified speed to get to the girls locker room as fast as possible.

I just sat there on the bench staring at the lockers in the girls locker room. It had been a full half-an-hour since Jace stormed away. When I was with Jace in that car this morning all I could think about was how close we were. How I wanted to reach over and grab his hand and everything would be okay. And when he tried to kiss me, it was the most I've felt full in years. Even more full when he came over and we talked. It reminded me of how I was with my dad.

*Flashback*

My nine year old self ran into the house crying. I ran all the way upstairs and slammed my door closed.

"Kitty?" My dad called as he heard my footsteps up the stairs. I loved his nickname for me. It was his and will only ever be from him. I would never let anyone call me that except him.
