Sicilian Mafia

The mafia is very well known. The Italian man with Tommy guns, black suits and fedora’s, but that is not all they were.

The mafia was a family or clan of Italian immigrants. First, I will tell the origin of the mafia. Second I will tell about the mafia. Finally I will share what they did.

The first mafia originated in Sicily. As immigrants, they came to American in the mid 1900’s. In this new country they we unfamiliar and alone which demanded them to stick together. Coming to America they brought their life styles with them. In order to be in the mafia the requirement was to be 100% Italian. The men in the mafia were called mobsters who preyed on other gangs but could take out anyone. The mafia would use any weapons they could find, but the most infamous were; the Tommy gun, sawed off shotgun, Baseball bat, Molotov cocktail, Stiletto Knife, and the Brass Knuckles.

The mafia made money, sought out rivals, and took revenge. The Prohibition of Alcohol gave the mafia a perfect opportunity to take control of the crime underworld in New York. Other gangs would steal alcohol giving the mafia motive to kill and use the product to make a name for them self.

The Irish and the Germans both had mafia of their own. All American Mafia’s were dangerous but the Italian mafia was treacherous. The Italian’s had no competition when it came to crime.

To review the information; the mafia originated in Sicily, were dangerous mobsters, and the best in the business of crime. Next time you pray, thank God they are not around to wake you up level eyed to a double-barrel shotgun.
