Chapter Nineteen | Suspicions
Okay, why is she staring at me? I thought.
I move left, and her eyes move left. I move right, and her eyes move right. Yep, she really is watching me.
My eyes open wide, and so does hers. I run away, not wanting to be watched anymore.
I run into the bathroom and hide in there. I washed my face to cool off, since my heart was beating a million times a second.
I hear footsteps approaching the bathroom, and I instantly run into and stall hide. I hear her walk in, and say,
"Hello, is anyone in here?"
Leave me alone, Denise. I thought.
"Helloo?" Denise said goofily.
Ugh, when will she just give up and leave? I thought.
"When I find you." Denise said.
Wait, how does she know I'm here? I thought.
"Well, first of all, I can sense a presence in the room. And second of all, I can read your mind, Catherine." Denise said.
Aw, crap! I thought.
"Aw, crap is right, Catherine. You can run, but you can't hide." Denise threatened.
Okay, so I'll run? I thought.
I opened the latch of the bathroom stall, and I darted out of the bathroom.
I heard her chasing after me, and shortly after the bell rang. I kept running, and darted into my first period class.
I pushed the door open, and darted into my first period class, out of breath.
"Trying to get to class early, Catherine?" Mr. Johnson chuckled.
"Yeah," I said, still out of breath.
I sat down, exhausted. I saw Raveleen, and she sat down in her seat next to me.
"Did you just run the mile?" Raveleen asked.
"Nope. But I did just run away from Denise." I said, finally catching my breath.
"What?! Was she chasing you, stalking you?" Raveleen asked.
"I ran away, because she was staring at me so creepily. I was hiding in the bathroom, and she could sense my presence in the room. She could also read my mind, too!" I said nervously.
"Yeah, some of them can do that too." Raveleen said.
"Oh, gee, thanks for letting me know beforehand, Raveleen." I said sarcastically.
"Shut up." Raveleen chuckled.
After a while, there was only 15 minutes left of class, and we were all working silently.
"Catherine, can you please take these papers to the main office?" Mr. Johnson asked.
"Okay." I replied.
I walked out of the classroom, and started to walk straight to the main office.
However, as I was walking, I saw someone at the end of the hall. Surprise, surprise, it was Denise!
Is there a janitors closet to hide in or something? I thought.
Of course, being the dummy I am, I ran straight to the bathroom, again. I ran carefully, trying not to make any sounds with my shoes.
I was doing good, when my shoes had to make that random squeak.
"I knew I sensed a presence in the hall." Denise said, evilly.
I ran, my shoes going squeak, squeak, squeak down the hall.
I darted into the bathroom, turning around only to find that Denise was right behind me.
"Please don't hurt me!" I pleaded.
"Why do you keep running from me?" Denise asked.
"I just wanted to be your friend! I'm sorry I've been acting so awkward lately. I've always been this way."
"But then why did you say those things...?" I asked.
"I was just playing with you. I'm sorry, I have a weird sense of humor." Denise said sweetly.
"Really?"
"Yes! I just want to be your friend, I swear!" Denise said sweetly, looking straight into my eyes.
"Pinky promise?" I said, the childish side escaping me.
Denise and I crossed pinkies.
I'm still oddly suspicious of her, but I'll let it slide.
