Accidental Roommates

Chapter Nine: July

A sigh of relief escaped my lips as I put down the box of CD's. Calum and Michael walked into the dance hall behind me.

"Are you sure we wont get caught?" This was the third time Michael had said this.

" Michael! We've been hiding boxes in here all week, nobody has caught us, we're gonna be fine!"

Okay to clarify things; next week is Ashton's birthday and the week after is Luke's birthday. So we decided to throw them a joint party. Even some of the betty bun heads agreed to help and others said they would come.

"I hope you plan on telling us how you're going to get all the staff out the building so we don't get busted and the party get shut down" Cal said as he sat on the speaker he was carrying.

"It's okay, I bribed some of the girls in my class to find some way of getting the staff out of the building. Everything will be perfect... I know it"

That was a lie; well the I know it part. For all I know the party could crash and burn and then what?!

We finished setting up the stuff we brought to the hall today and left for our classes.

I hadn't properly spent time with Luke since the incident so it was kind of nice when we were paired up in music today.
We have to create a cover of a piece of music.

"So I uh guess we are partners." Luke rubbed the back of his neck and looked down.

"Yeah, I guess we are"

This is awkward.

"We should start tomorrow in my dorm?" He suggested nervously.

Although the thought of being alone with Luke again scared me (for his safety) I carelessly agreed.

My face hit the soft linen sheets and a loud groan escaped my lips.

Maya rolled her eyes "long day?"

"That, is an understatement"

"Tell me everything"

"Well basically..."

I explained today's situation with Luke and how I was conflicted about being alone with him. I had no idea what to expect from her because she didn't seem to let on any opinions during my explanation until she asked

"So it's Luke tomorrow? What's happening with Ashton?"

And with that I was speechless. I have no words because I had no idea. I was stuck between a tug of war. I was the rope and Ashton a Luke took either end of me, I hated my situation and wanted to make a choice but making a choice could mean I lost one of the boys I try so hard to keep.
Was I in love with Ashton? Did I have feelings for Luke? We're both true?

While I conversed with myself I hadn't realised I'd said it all aloud meaning I was the reason Maya had such a smug look in her face. I had told her a while back about my situation. Bad idea though. Now she caught me out all the time.

Her actions after this were that of which you'd expect of a child of maybe 10 or 11. She sprung from her chair and pranced around the room singing about what I had just told her.

Tomorrow came all too soon, the light from outside was creeping through the gap in the windows, a small groan escaped my lips and my eyes fluttered open. I took a moment to take in my surroundings before I checked the time, 9:37am. Shit! I was meant to be meeting Ashton at 10.

My super powers must have kicked in because I miraculously managed to be ready in time.

"I'm sorry I'm a little late I literally woke up 20 minutes ago!"

"Babe chill it's okay" he hugged me.

"So um I have till 4 then I'm going with Luke to work on our piece for the music course"

"Yeah that's fine"

I couldn't help but feel how suspicious Ash was about Luke and how protective he's become since new year.

"Look Ashton I didn't mean to get in between you and Luke and I can't help but feel guilty for what happened..."

"Let's not talk about that asshole okay"

"He's your friend Ash-"

"Friends don't kiss their friends girls"

"Ash we weren't even dating then! God you're such an ass!"

Well today couldn't get anymore awkward.

There was a solid few minutes of silence before an "I'm sorry babe" and a hand on my shoulder.

"Ash you need to talk to Luke, it's barely a week till your birthday and I want you guys to be friends by then"

After a lot of sighing he agreed to make an effort with Luke.

We walked to meet Luke together, his reaction was priceless.
"Luke we need to talk" Ash walked off with Luke so I decided to work on mine and Luke's piece alone.

After an hour of them painfully making up they were happily chatting and laughing like nothing had happened.
