Chapter one

Faiths POV

'Faith, Lyla get in here!' I herd my father call from the other room. I stood up quickly, Lyla doing the same as we made our way into the lounge where my father was sitting

'Yes?' I replied sitting down on the couch opposite him and my mother.

'We'd like to tell you both something'' my father smiled at us both. Lyla nodded for him to go on.

'We both know you and Lyla hate working at the bar' my father started. I bit my lip nervously, I felt so bad that I didn't want to go into the family business but I'd always had bigger hopes for Lyla and I, I really wanted to go into working for a business firm or something like that, but I'd grown to accept that it wasn't a option in Alabama.

'Well, as you know my brother has got a business firm in the city' my father continued, manhattan I mentally corrected him, of course id always wanted to work for his brother like my cousins did.

'Well since you're both seventeen now and we know how much this would mean to you, my brother had offered you both an internship at his company in manhattan' my father finished, I smile growing across his face. I clapped my hands over my mouth while Lyla let out a scream causing my mother to send her a clam down frown.

'You are joking' I breathed. My father shook his head his grin bigger then ever.

'Thankyou ! Thankyou so much' Lyla cried running over and hugging our father.

'Now now Lyla calm down' my mother scolded and I practically had to hold myself back from rolling my eyes.

'When do we leave?' I asked changing the subject

'In a couple of days, there will be a apartment set up for you when we get there, the rent will be payed by us and your savings account and you will be discussing your hours at the company when you get there' my father smiled. Wow. This was so perfect.

'Thankyou' I smiled, I was so happy.
Suddenly my father clapped his hands together

'Get packing girls!' He laughed. My mother sat perfectly upright her lips pressed in a thin line. Both Lyla and I stood up

'Just remember though' my mother stopped us as we headed toward the door 'that you wanted this, not us, so don't come crying back here' she finished. I could see Lyla tense next to me but I just nodded pushing us both out of the door and headed upstairs quickly.

'Urgh I could just slap her sometimes' Lyla whined.

'I know why can't she be happy for us, just this once?' I complained as I shut the door to our bedroom. I knew it was wrong to be speaking about my mother this way but sometimes she really got in my nerves, this was such a big opportunity and she was ruining it. I didn't want to spend my whole life working as a waitress in some country bar, I wanted to explore the city and experience it and I knew Lyla wanted to the same. We would never go crying back to her, I'd make sure of it.
