The forest was in the grip of mid spring. The warm mid-morning sunlight cast dancing patches of light and shade on the narrow track, which was little more than a footpath. The long grass which was speckled with fresh white daisies and royal purple crocuses on the side of the path swayed lazily with any disturbance in the air.

Helga Hufflepuff ran her fingers through the grass as she passed, enjoying its soft tickle as it brushed over her hand gently. She smiled as she looked up at her new travelling companion, who was waiting at the next bend in the path for her to catch up as they walked on through the forest,

"Are you alright?" he asked her as she came towards him, "I can transfigure the shield into the horse again if you are tired," she shook her head as she looked up at him, saying,

"I'm fine thanks, just glad to be here really,". At her words, his rugged face broke into a smile, and he laughed, shaking his unruly mane of dark auburn hair from his hazel eyes,

"Everything really does seem better when the sun is out doesn't it?" he chuckled, rubbing his chin, which had a thin stubble appearing on it, due to him not shaving for a few days. He looked back at her for a moment, before adding, "Come on, we're nearly there..." as he turned around again, she caught her own reflection in his polished silver shield slung across his back, which had been his white horse a few hours before.

After a few more moments of walking in silence, with only the twittering of the birds and the sounds of the wind in the trees between them, she spoke again,

"You know, Sir Gryffindor..." She began,

"I'm not Sir Gryffindor anymore Helga, just call me Godric please," he cut in. His eyes were closed, and his pace had ever so slightly quickened. Helga realised that she had just stirred what she could imagine to be a painful memory,

"I'm sorry," she apologised, ducking her head, "That was foolish of me, I should have known..." Godric suddenly stopped in his tracks and turned to her,

"It's not your fault, you weren't to know," he shook his head, before looking around at the forest, "But maybe... Maybe, I'll be a Sir again, eh? When this tyrant of a ruler falls... Perhaps then..." He paused, his eyes slightly misted. He remained like that for a few seconds, before starting to walk again, but at a slower pace this time so that she could walk beside him. Helga looked up at him as they walked,

"If I may be so bold, where exactly are we going?" She asked. Godric smiled and met her gaze with his warm eyes,

"To a place where our kind can be safe," then he winked, "You'll see," he chuckled at the confusion on her face. Helga was about to add something to the conversation, when the peace of the world around them was shattered by the sound of two or more horses thundering up the path behind them...

*sheepishly shuffles into view* Hi there guys... Sorry I haven't uploaded in AGGGGGGGGES! But here's the next part of the Founders Four! A pretty short part, I'll admit, but I need to get back into the swing of this story, so bare with me!

Hope you like it, and feel free to comment your thoughts! Constructive criticism is always welcome!
