I am a Hybrid

The Emergency

--(1st Person, Characters point of view)

*sounds of panting, heart beating fast [thump,thump]

--"Mom.." I whispered sharply with fear in my voice
[panicked panting]
I darted across the field to a nearby tree, it's not any tree though.. It's the tree with my mom laying underneath. Cold, blue-lipped, and lifeless. I yanked my phone out of my pocket and dialed 911 right away.

--(3rd Person, or Narrarators point of view)

"Hello I'm Francine and this is 911 emergency,  who is calling and state your emergency" the lady named Francine said, "Uh my mom isn't breathing-- she looks terrible!" Autumn replied frantically. "Okay we will be on our way as soon as possible sweetie! Where are you?" Francine asked ,  "Uh I'm in Central Park! You already know that it's in New York" I said taking a shaky, deep breath. "Okay we are on our way now, we will see you there hon.." Francine said courageously.
--(Ambulance noises)
"Move aside honey, we will take care of her" <(emergency doctor), "No! I'm coming
with!" I yelled and hopped on the bus without waiting for a reply from the doctor.

(Autumn's Point of View, 1st Person)

-- Beep..Beep..Beep
Wow... where am I? what is going on?
I got up quickly, looked around and saw mom laying unresponsive but her heart was beating, and I felt a wave of relief run through me. I couldn't stop looking at mom's heart monitor, it went up and down, and then up again and down again. It made me dizzy and I decided I needed a break, so I looked away and left the room for awhile. I pulled out a crumpled $10 dollar bill out of my torn, old jeans and straightened it out and put it in the vending machine. I got a can of Coke and M&M's and snacked on them for awhile. I heard a couple people run down the hallway, but I found out that they were going to mom's room! I dropped my dropped my M&M's and they scattered everywhere, but I didn't care at all. I shot down the hallway to my mom's room and I took a step in, and the doctor looked at me and shook his head.. I knew what that meant. I started bawling and walked in slow, "mom" I whispered softly, pushing her hair out of her eyes with my cold hand. "Mom" I said again even softer, I put my head on the hospital bed that my mom was laying on, and I held her hand and cried, I cried like I never had before and had fallen asleep right there.

--"Autumn, honey?"
Somebody said my name. "What.. wait who said that?" I said, "It's me honey, I think I'm better", "Um.." I yawned rubbed my eyes and saw mom staring at me and talking to me. My eyes widen and I said "Mom?", I had said it softly at first, then I screamed gleefully "Mom!", "Yes it's me, Autumn" Mom replied softly. "Mom what happened to you?" I said worriedly "Honey don't worry about me, I'm fine and I will tell you later on, I'm going to nap for awhile okay?" Mom said "Okay mom, rest good I'll be around here" I said watching her eyes close. I was exploring the hallways and I passed a boy who looked around my age, (I'm 16 years old) "Hi" he said to me in a deep, sad sounding voice, I replied "hey, are you alright you look upset", "Uh yeah I'm kinda depressed right now.. My mom has a mysterious disease or something and I just lost my friends and my girlfriend" he said sadly. "Oh I'm sorry that must be tough, my mom is sick with something mysterious too, and what happened with your friends and your girlfriend?" I said "Um, I gotta go bye" he said, obviously not wanting to talk about what happened between his friends and girlfriend. Huh, what's his deal? Whatever happened must be top secret, or super serious.

-- "Hey mom" I said softly to her, shaking her a enough to get an answer. "Hi honey" Mom replied in a weak voice, "hi mom, how are you feeling? and you said you would tell me what's wrong.." I said "Well it's quite a story, could we talk at home?" Mom said "It's kind of a secret.." Mom whispered to me.
A nurse walked in, smiled and said "How's your mom, sweet pea?" "Oh she seems a lot better, wait are you Francine?" I said surprised "Ah Yes! You remembered, I was the one who picked up your 911 call" She said and smiled again. I told the nurse I was going to walk around outside, around the park that's part of the hospital.
--"Hey again" said mystery boy "Uh hey, I never got your name" I replied "Oh yeah, my name is Ryan" Ryan said "Oh and my name is Autumn" I said back. "I assumed you wanted to know about the loss of my life, right?" Ryan said "Uh yeah if your okay with telling me, like I don't want to get in your business" I said, "It's no problem I was just stressed out earlier" Ryan said "Okay  I'm listening then" I replied. "My mom is different she isn't just human" Ryan said "Um your creepin' me out a bit" I said getting nervous "Don't worry you shouldn't be scared, it's just my mom is a..." Ryan paused and whispered "A hybrid" "I've heard of hybrids from books, but in real life?" I asked "Yeah there are only 1 out of every 20 people, they say over the years the amount of hybrids gets bigger and bigger" Ryan whispered to me "Woah. Are you one?" I asked, "Well my mom said when I'm 16 it will happen when I least expect it.. I'm I'm already 16 and I'm preparing for it" Ryan said nervously "That seems like it's a lot to handle" I said "Well yeah just keep it a secret, my mom will be really upset with me for talking about it, I just found out yesterday.." Ryan paused and said "I gotta see you later" he smiled and left I smiled back. I think I just made a new friend...
