Chapter 14: Vengeance is best served hot

Present day:

Nate sighed when Chuck finished his story.

"Why did you give her drugs? Jaleesha was obviously drunk and incapable of thinking straight."

Chuck jaw clenched as guilt stabbed his gut,
" I.....I I would never have done anything to hurt her she was just so tense and in so much pain I couldn't stand to see her that way, she was never meant to get caught...." Chuck voice softened and after a few seconds of silence he added " I just wanted to help and be there for  her...."

Chloe's brow wrinkled as she said " I just don't understand. Who sent the tip off to Gossip Girl ?"

The three sat in silence, scrolling through the intensely long list of people who hated Jaleesha Waldorf. Chuck stood up, his fits were clenched in anger.

"I'll scroll through the footage of the security cameras that were on during the party. Chloe you look through the guest list, and Nate you stay behind I would like to have a word."

Nate's eyes widened with surprise, "Yeah sure........"

Chloe looked at Chuck with confusion,
"Is there something wrong Chuck?"

Chuck gave her a dismissive nod and pulled Nate aside.

"Nate I'll ask you once, and I expect an honest answer."

Nate nodded, his expression turning concerned.

"Where were you on the night of the party?"

Nate gulped, "Come on Chuck I was in California, you know that."

Chuck nostrils flared. "I have no doubt you were but considering for a fact that I know your lying to me, do you have a valid excuse for why you were at the party with Vanessa Abrams?"

Nate gasped, "You saw that ? Chuck I---."

Chuck cut him off " Save it Nate, your a grown man and can make your own decisions on what you do I just never thought you'd swoop so low to doing Abrams, it's as if you forgot about all the drama she had caused before she left."

Earlier that year

"Carter please, you can't do this I thought we were going so well" Vanessa screeched.

"Come on V we both knew that this wasn't going to last long it was just a bit of fun."

"It was fun to start off with but I really did develop real feelings for you."

"Well I'm sorry V, but I'v already gotten back together with Chloe" he said while stroking her cheek.

"Get your hands off me Carter, you lying pig it was always about her wasn't it, it really never was me."

"I'm sorry Vanessa  but you should really go she will be here any second, here I'll show you out."

"Not that's okay I can show myself out you just get ready for your date" she said before exchanging death stares.

Vanessa stood in her lonely apartment thinking back and forth about what had just happened she couldn't believe she had lost two of her men to one girl in the past year, first Dan and now Carter.

She got over the fact that everyone she loved chose Chloe over her but there was only one thing that Vanessa had on her lips......Vengeance.
