Chapter 5

Elsie Mae's POV
"Here we are!" John I mean one of my fathers exclaimed as he opened a door to a large house. Still holding Alexander- I mean my other father's hand, I walked inside. They showed me where everything was in the house, then they led me to my bedroom. When I walked inside, I couldn't hide the smile that erupted on my face. For the first time in years, I had my own bedroom. My fathers left me alone while I unpacked the few belongings I had. When I was finished, I walked out of my new bedroom and met them in the sitting room.
    "I hope you don't mind Elsie Mae, but we were thinking of having a little party tomorrow night to celebrate your adoption." Alexander said. I smiled and nodded. I've never  been to a party before. I didn't know much about them either but from what I've heard about them, they are very exciting.
    Soon after, I decided to go to bed. I have had a very exciting day. Before I made my way to my new bedroom, I hugged both of my new parents tightly.  I laid down in my new bed and closed my eyes, smiling. I heard the door quietly open so I sat up. Alexander gestured for me to lay back down and I did what was told. He sat on the edge of my bed and smiled.
    "I'm so happy we found you Elsie Mae," he said as he pushed some of my hair back. I sat up and hugged him.
    "I am too.... Father." I replied. He kissed my forehead then quietly left the room. I fell asleep quickly thinking about my new home and new parents.

   "Elsie Mae! Help!" Evelyn screamed. I placed Tommy down on the ground then ran to where the screaming was coming from. Three men wearing all black were trying to stuff her in a bag and kidnap her.
   "Let her go!" I screamed. Evelyn continued screaming and kicking as hard as she could. Then someone grabbed me and covered my mouth. I back kicked the person as hard as I could in the stomach. When I looked again to help Evelyn, she was gone.
    "EVELYN!" I screamed as I bolted upright in bed. The tears started flowing uncontrollably. I heard running from down the hallway and my fathers burst in the room.
   "Shhhh, Elsie Mae it was only a dream."John said as I wrapped my arms around him. He soothingly rubbed my back until I calmed down a little bit.
  "Do you want to talk about it?" Alexander asked. I nodded.
    "I was in the woods and one of the children from the orphanage was taken by three men in black and was kidnapped. Then someone tried to grab me so I kicked them in the stomach. When I got out of his grasp, Evelyn was gone." Alexander then left the room and returned a minute later with a glass of milk. He and John stayed with me until I fell back into a restless sleep.
