You woke up pretty late at night. You saw Melody was still asleep. You smiled because of how adorable she was when she slept. It was really quiet until you heard a door close. You heard footsteps coming closer. You saw a shadow pass your door and the footsteps began to grow softer. You guessed it was Toriel.

You silently walked out and carefully closed your door. You walked into the living room and then into the kitchen. You saw no one in either rooms.

"Maybe she went downstairs." You whispered to yourself. You to the stairs. You stepped over the chain and silently went down the stairs. Once down, you saw a long hallway. You walked down the hallway and started to hear voices. You recognized Toriel's but there was a male voice too. You looked around a corner and saw Toriel facing a door.

"knock knock." The male voice said.

"Who's there?" Toriel replied giggling.

"dishes." The male said.

"Dishes who?" Toriel asked.

"dishes a very bad joke." The male said. Toriel burst out in laughter. You could hear the other voice laughing a bit. They went back and forth telling each other jokes for a while. Finally Toriel made things become more serious.

"So, I must tell you what has happened today. Two new humans fell down. I'm surprised they didn't want to leave me right away. I do feel really bad for them." Toriel said.

"why's that?" The man asked.

"They are orphans. One girl named Melody was abandoned at birth while (y/n)'s parents were killed a few years ago." Toriel replied.

"oh wow. that must be harsh. well, i bet they will stay with you. you seem to be a great motherly figure, i'm sure they would be glad if you adopted them." The man said.

"The thing is, I cannot legally adopt them without having to go to the surface. And you know that isn't going to happen anytime soon." Toriel said. You wanted to comfort Toriel but your 'feelings' told you to wait.

"that is true. i'm sorry that i don't know how to help you." The man said.

"It's ok. Oh! I must tell you the funniest thing that occurred today! I was teaching the girls about fights and to talk to monsters. I made them practice talking to a dummy. (y/n) just asked it how it was, but Melody flirted with it. I was going to just accept it and move on but the dummy started blushing and floated away!" Toriel said laughing.

"oh my god! that's very hilarious!" The man said as he bursted out laughing.

"And later, I found Melody flirting with a Froggit!" Toriel said.

"wow. that kid is strange! is there anything special about the other kid of yours?" The male asked.

"Not really. Though she seems quite confident about things. She is a lot braver than Melody. Other than that, she seems to be normal." Toriel explained.

You realized that you never told Toriel about your 'feelings'. You shrugged and decided to tell her about it later. You listen to the two talk for a little while longer than decide to walk back upstairs. You wanted to go out and see what was behind that door and to meet that man, but your 'feelings' told you to wait longer.

You walked back to your room and saw that Melody was still asleep. You climbed on the bed and closed your eyes. You fell asleep after a while.

For the next few weeks, everything seemed to be about the same. You would get up, have some breakfast, explore the ruins, eat dinner, go to bed, and go downstairs to listen to Toriel and the man talk. You did tell Toriel about your 'feelings'. The same night, Toriel told the man behind the door about it. He seemed surprised.

"(y/n), Melody, wake up!" Toriel said turning on your light.

"Good morning Mom." You and Melody groaned together.

"Come on girls, let's go have some snail pie!" Toriel suggested. Toriel made the snail pie a few days ago. It was actually better than it sounded.

"Coming Mom." You said. Toriel smiled and walked out of the room. You got up and one of your 'feelings' came.

"What's wrong (y/n)?" Melody asked.

"It's my feelings. W-we need to leave today." You said. You felt tears building up in your eyes.

"Well, let's eat first. I want some of Mom's snail pie." Melody suggested.

"Alright. Hey, Mel? Do you still have the recipe for butterscotch cinnamon? We will need it for later in our journey." You asked. Melody nodded. You both got dressed and walked out of your room. You and Melody walked into the living room and Toriel handed you both a slice of pie.

"Mom, I hate saying this but we will need to go. I really don't want to but I cannot ignore my 'feelings'." You said as you felt yourself about to cry.

"Oh, well I will give you both an extra slice of pie before you go. I will miss you both so much." Toriel said. She walked back into the kitchen and came back with two slices of snail pie in a container. You and Melody finished eating your first slice and went to your room to pack. You put the pie in your bag and closed it up. Once you both were finished, Toriel led you downstairs to the door.

"Goodbye my children. I love you both." Toriel said. You could feel her sadness.

"Goodbye Mom. We love you too." You said. Melody agreed and you both hugged Toriel. You both waved goodbye and opened the door.
