“Thank you, Louis! This looks delicious” you smiled warmly and genuine at your boyfriend who oh so kindly brought you breakfast in bed. “Did I miss anything? Is it my birthday? Our anniversary?” you asked curiously. You’ve never been good with remembering important dates and such so it wouldn’t be surprising if you actually did forget.

“Nope, I just wanted to tell you I love you, that’s all. And it’s been a while since I did something sweet for you”. He tilted his head to the side and smiled childishly at you.

“Louis, really, you didn’t have to” you said quietly. “I’m content with just being with you and knowing you love me… but never as much as I love you”, you quickly added.

“You and me, forever” Louis whispered quietly with his lips brushing against your ear. His breath sent shivers down your spine wich earned a small smile from Louis; he had found you weak spot.

You turned around so your nose was brushing against his and slowly pressed your lips against his. It was quick but sweet, just like you loved it.

The breakfast was long gone but you stayed in bed together for the rest of the morning. When you turned to look at Louis, you were suddenly filled with so much love for him. You loved every single thing about him, how his hair got messed up so easily, his stubbornness, his crooked smile and the way he hugged you when he had been away for a long time. His body always seemed to fit perfectly with yours, hands wrapped around your back and lips pressed against yours.

“Louis” you said quietly. “I love you so, so much. There’s nothing that could ever make me love you any less. I will love you ‘till the end of time and even further more. You’re my everything”. Your eyes threatened to fill up with tears but you stubbornly blinked them away. This was no time for crying.

“Baby, come here”. Louis stretched out his arms for you to climb over to him and sit between his legs. He played with the ends of your hair as he talked. “There’s nothing else I could say than that I love you more than anything. I wouldn’t be able to survive a day without you”.

“We really need to stop being this cheesy” you said jokingly, trying not to let the tears spill

“But you love cheesy” The both of you laughed together. The serious Louis was long gone and replaced by his usual, cheeky self.

“Oh shit, I need to go to work!” you exclaimed loudly when you happened to see time on his watch that was lying beside the bed.  You had totally forgotten about work and now you only had a few minutes to get ready.

“Bye Louis! You shouted through the door and blew him a kiss. You stayed long enough to see him catch it with his hand and that was the last thing you saw before the door closed.

The day passed slowly, especially since you wanted to get home to Louis again. This morning had been one of the best in a long time and you couldn’t wait to get home and continue were you left off. But first you’d make him dinner, his favorite. He deserved it, he really did.

Your phone rang in the middle of your daydreaming of what you were going to wear when you got home.

“Amanda” you answered distractedly, your thoughts still lingering on if you should choose the red dress or the little black one that Louis loved so much? It would probably be The black one, definitely.

“Hello, I’m calling from London Hospital. You are listed as the contact person For Louis Tomlinson, is that right?” a monotone voice asked.

“Y-yes” your voice was shaking as you anticipated her answer. The thought of dresses and dinner was long gone. What was happening? Everything was just fine with him this morning.

“I’m sorry to say this but he has been in a car accident. He died immediately. I’m sorry”.

Your whole body was in shock and you felt cold, so cold. With her words, it felt like your heart had been ripped out of your chest and broken into a million pieces. This couldn’t be true! It couldn’t!

“No! No, no, no!” you sobbed into your hands, forgetting about the woman on the other side of the line. Your whole world was crashing down on you and you were lost, so lost. The love of your life was dead. Dead, dead, dead. He was just a cold, lifeless body lying alone in a hospital room.

A horrified scream came out of your mouth, echoing through the rooms in the empty apartment.

You distracted yourself from the truth by letting your mind wander to all the times you’ve been cuddled up together, Louis and you, on the couch, just enjoying each other’s company. Now all that’s left was a cold sofa in the middle of the room, longing for people who would never come back.

You remembered how Louis always called when he was away on tour. Every night, even though all he needed was sleep, he would call you, even just to say good night and to remind you of how much he loved you. Tears kept falling down your cheeks but you were to numb to even care.

Louis would never call again; you would never hear his voice again.  The realization resulted in another scream. You scream out all the pain and the hurt. It wasn’t fair! Not at all! Why did it have to be him? He was loved by so many all around the world and he would brighten anyone’s day by just a few words. It just wasn’t fair! Why him out of all people?

Your thought drifted away to this morning. It felt like a thousand years, not the few hours that it actually was. How he smiled when he entered the bedroom carrying the tray with the tea and how happy he was when you thanked him. You remembered how his eyes were glowing when you expressed your love once again, and how he’d squeezed your hand as a comforting gesture when you couldn’t find the right words. But you didn’t have to try because he knew exactly how you felt just by looking at you. And you remembered how his lips had moved when he said the worlds “you and me, forever”.

It was almost like you could feel Louis’ arms wrapping around your petite body, his hands rubbing up and down your back, trying to comfort you. His lips found yours and just when you would press yours against his, you remembered the bitter truth. He was dead and you would never feel his touch again.

“Louis!” you cried out. “Why did you leave me? Why?” tears were falling and your eyes were bloodshot and red but it didn’t matter, not anymore.

“Please, Louis! Please!” you sobbed hysterically. You didn’t know what you were begging for but somehow it made you realize what you had to do. You had to see him.

A few minutes or hours later, you didn’t know because you’d lost track of time, you were standing outside the room where Louis was. Opening the door seemed impossible. If you stepped in, it would be the final goodbye. After a few deep breathes you did it. The door slowly opened with a loudly screech and you took the final step.

The room was quiet, almost too quiet and the only light was coming through the almost closed blinds that were placed in front of the window. Small dust particles were dancing in the air, reflecting in the little sunlight that was allowed in the room. The door closed with a thump behind you and you twitched at the sudden sound. Suddenly, you seemed to realize that his body was lying right before your eyes.

“Louis” you whispered so quietly it was almost impossible to hear. He looked so peaceful, so beautiful. His flawless face was pale, almost as white as the sheets lying under him, and his lips were dark blue. He didn’t even have a scratch! “Louis” you repeated while trying not to cry. Your efforts were worthless as you soon sobbed loudly in your hands.

The clock was ticking, seconds turning into minutes but you stayed by his side.

“I’ll always love you” you whispered quietly in his ear and placed a soft kiss on his cold lips. “You and me, forever”
