I woke up In the infirmary, and looked up too see alex sitting at the end of my bed, with a book in his hand about the history of mathematics.
"Tell me it was a dream..." I tell him with sad eyes. He looks up from his book,
"Wish I could, but no, we have a quest to go on...." I moan at his remark.
"UGHHH, noooo," I growel at him piling the covers over my head.
"I don't wanna die." I tell him. He laughs at my remark and then shuts his book and gets up,
"Common, there's a meeting and the big house starting in 20 minutes." He starts to walk towards the door then stops and turns.
"I wouldn't let you die, by the way Willow, that already almost happened, and I swore to myself it wouldn't happen again." I flinched at the reminder, oh ya, I almost died when I was on Ravens quest... and Alex didn't go, forgot that part. Before I could answer him, he had left me. I sighed and heaved myself out of bed. When I looked around the room, it looks exactly the same as it did when I was eight, same wood, same beds. I got up and went out of the cabin, making my way to the big house.
once I made my way out everyone I passed turned and stared, they were either really jealous, or just in awe. Then out of no where, a boy with brown hair, gelled back stepped i front of me.
"Hey Will," he said in a slight Irish accent. "Oh hey James," I say to the shorter Nike kid. "You look great," he says winking at me. I stop in my tracks, what did he think he was doing? He was two years older then me, so where did he think he was going with that comment? I look at him, he's kinda shorter but then again, I'm tall. I was 5'8 and a half while he was 5'6 and a half about. I snorted at him.. He was harmless. "Thanks" I say looking down and blushing, then continuing to walk. "So..." He continues and grabs my wrist. "Hey I've wanted to show you something for a while, wanna come see," he says with a smirk and winks at me. "No." I hear a booming voice over me, it was Alex. "She really rather not, she has to get to the big house anyway."I looked up at alex in raged, maybe I wanted to talk to James, hes totally embarrassing me! Then i looked back down to James, I didn't understand why this dude wasn't running, Alex was my age and still quite taller then me, so he towered over James, and he had a frown across his face, but James just stood there, smirking.
"Don't worry Smith, she's in good hands with me. He tells alex and I can feel Alex tensing. I bite my lip from the tension in the air.
"Well she really has to go so, think what you want but, it's your fault of Chiron catches you." He tells him and looks at me quickly.
"I don't think she really has to go..." James says holding on to my wrist harder.
"Ow!" I cry out in pain, and he releases me from his grip.
"Dude! Not cool!" I yell at him while looking at the red marks on my wrists. When I turn to talk to alex, he's gone. Ugh, so like him.
"Sorry, James." I say in a cold voice. "But I have to go, I'll talk to you later."
"Hey! Wait! he calls. But I storm quickly in the big house and slam the door behind me, planning on discussing what happened with Alex. When I turn I see six people sitting at the table, only Raven, Maple, Zander, Spencer, and Chiron (at the head of the table) look up at me, with all worry in their eyes. And then there was Alex, the sixth member of this little party, sitting down smirking, and doing a game of rubrics cube. I walk over, and stand I front of the empty chair then turn to alex and put my hand out. "Cube." I say as coldly as possible. "No." He answers smirking up at me. I roll my eyes. "Cube smith, or I swear-". "No, and what's up with you." He says coolly, still playing with his cube. "You know damn well what's 'up with me.'" I said and right away, I regretted it, he looked up with me in slight shock then put the cube in his bag.
"There, god. Calm down." God I wanted to kick him.
I took a deep breath and faced everyone, everyone looked pretty surprised , except for maple, she was just smirking at me. Ya, she loved my bad side. I looked over at Raven and it had seemed like she had got over what I had just said and began sharpening her knives. "Willow," said Chiron speaking up. "Please repeat the prophecy," he orders me. I sigh and repeat it,
"One shall perish for one to rise -which mean someone has to get hurt for something good to happen to someone else."
"The owls faith slowly dies" my eyes drift to alex, who looks quite pale. "I-I don't know what that means, but owl means Athena, and the closet thing I have to Athena is Alex..."
"You have?" Spencer says looking up at me.
"You know what I mean I say rolling my eyes at him, blushing of embarrassment, then continue the prophecy.
"Teams of two will depart to go- well that's pretty straight forward..."
"Two shall follow after four stroll-who knows what that means."
"To travel South-West
Is the idea of the best -so... To Rome we go..." I say awkwardly.
"The cursed girl of the wheat
Will finally taste the traitor seas defeat" I shrug at that.
"And the love that has no bottom
finally has the time to blossom"
I bite my lip at the last two lines and literally feel ravens smirk from across the table. Why? Well she had this idea that me and alex were in love, which, well, EW. Is all I could think of, he's like my brother, NOT my lover.
"Well, that pretty much clears it up, but who's the four to go first?" Maple asks, looking around.
"Maple can't go," Zander tells me.
"What why?!" I ask in protest and quickly figure out the answer as maple swings her broken left leg thats in a cast on to the table.
"Toda." She says sarcastically then continues,
"When I got thrown out of my chariot from our little Gaea attack, I broke my leg. It'll only last for two days, cause I have been having ambrosia, but you guys have to leave tonight.. So, ya." She says, a little angry.
"Well, I guess it'll be me, raven, alex and spencer then" I say with a sigh.
"What? Why can't I go instead of Spencer?!" Zander pleads.
"I need the water boy, there's something about a sea in the prophecy, and were gonna need him." I tell Zander feeling guilty.
"Why do you need me then?" Alex says, looking up. I could have sworn his eyes we angry, confused, and depressed and maybe even glassy. What was wrong with him.
"The owl part, remember Smith." I say coolly without even looking at him. He grunted and took his rubrics cube out.
"You are impossible." He tells me. Finishing his rubrics cube in about 2 minutes. I roll my eyes and Chiron clears his throat.
"Well, everything seems pretty clear, go to Rome and find Poseidon's sanctuary there, and you should get your answers, you shall leave tonight at eight, after dinner."
"Sounds good." Raven says while getting up.
"I'm gonna go get my weapons ready, see you guys later." Raven finishes and takes a step towards the door.
"I'll come with you." Zander and Spencer say and get up in union. They both shoot each other a glare and raven leaves without even acknowledging them. They both sigh and follow her.
"Well, I have to go too, Chiron can I speak to you about something?" Maple asks and they both leave the room, leaving me and Alex alone. He gets up at swings his backpack over his shoulder.
"So you like James?" He asks me while raising an eyebrow.
"No." I answer
"No?" He says in a slight amusing tone then chuckles quietly. And takes a few steps towards the door.
"Interesting." He tells me before he leaves the room with a smirk plastered across his face. Interesting?! What in Tartarus is that supposed to mean?! I stand there in anger for a minute before leaving the room to head to my cabin and get ready for dinner, gods he he was getting on my nerves.
