I flew to the top of the Statue of Liberty and I saw Logan (in his strange outfit) fighting Magneto. Rouge was there too, controlling the machine although I didn't think that she wanted to.

I came down on Magneto and pushed him forward. Logan went for the machine and Rouge and broke it. The machine turned off and I felt much better. We didn't need them all to die, some humans aren't that bad, I guess.

Logan was holding Rouge, limp in his arms. I took a step forward and looked at Rouge. Logan looked down at me with gentle eyes before looking about. "Where's Dagger?"

Tears sprang to my eyes and I wanted to wail my pain to him but not here. "He....he's dead," I stammered as I looked at Rouge. "It looks like she is going to join him."

"Don't say that," snapped Logan as growl rolled in his throat. "She will be fine."

"Logan," I began but he wasn't listening. I sighed and pressed my head against his shoulder. "I'm very sorry."

Suddenly Logan began to breath heavily. I looked into his eyes and yelped. "What's wrong?"

Then I realized that Rouge was taking Logan's power! Again! My first response was to snarl her off but I shook my head. She needed to do this and Logan could take it.

Suddenly she let Logan go and he gasped for breath. Rouge looked into Logan's eyes and Logan choked in gratefulness. "Rouge," he gasped as he wrapped her in a hug.

My tail wagged and I pushed my head into her leg. She lowered down and I licked her cheek. "Hey girl," she murmured as she stroked me between the ears. "How are you?"

I didn't need to tell her about Dagger. "Great, now that you're alright." She kissed me between the ears and I didn't mind for once. Logan was like Rouge's father and I was like her companion.

Everything was fine now. Except that Magneto would probably come up with another evil plan but that was normal, at least for a group of very powerful mutants.
