Makenna's POV:

"Hey Babe!" Gus says as he finally catches up to me.

His hand quickly finds mine and he grabs it. I smile over at him, just to see him looking at me. I look down as we walk.

"So, I don't get a hi back?" He asks nudging my shoulder with his.

I laugh, "Hi, Hyper active. What do you want?"

"Well, I have a question for you. But, I am not asking until we get back to your house," He says with a sly smirk.

"Really, Gus?"

"If I remember correctly when we first met, you kept me guessing all the time." He smarts at me.

"Touché."

"Jenna said yes!" Gordy says running up to Gus.

"That's nice," Gus says as he rolls his eyes.

I elbow him.

Gus glares at me slightly before sighing, "Gordy, I haven't asked her. Okay? I might wait until I take her home and actually ask her mother first. Why should I get my hopes up if she can't go? It's not even worth it."

"Well for your information have you ever heard of the wonderful thing called texting?" Gordy asks raising his eyebrow. "It's a cool thing where it only takes a few moments to type and then you can get an answer right away. If the person is near their phone. Just ask Makenna's mom that way."

"Gordy, you had Jenna ask. I am asking Makenna's mom myself and in person. I only have her mom's phone number in case of an emergency. I will not use it unless I really need to use it," Gus says as a smile appears on my face.

He wraps his arm around me as we walk down the street. Gordy keeps bragging about how Jenna said yes and how much of a fun time the two of them are going to have, wherever the De St Jeor clan is going this weekend. I cuddle into Gus' side and I let my mind wander to where the clan might be going and if their cousins are going to be there too. Gus' hand dangles close to my shoulder and I eventually grab it with my hand. After a few moments of the brothers bickering and Gil and Gator finally catching up to us, my phone goes off in my pocket. I let go of Gus' hand, only for him to reach down and grab my cell phone from my back pocket. He holds it out to me, it still ringing. I quickly pick it up and look at the boys who have started to goof off around me.

I giggle, "Hello?"

"Hey, Makenna." My mother's soft voice says.

"Hey, Mom. We're almost home. The boys are all making sure that I get home safe and sound." I say.

"Oh. Are all the De St Jeor kids with you?" She asks.

I pull my phone away from my ear and put it on speaker, "Does this sound like four brothers goofing off?"

The boys, by now, are laughing and yelling at each other. My mom and someone else in the background start to laugh. I take my phone off speaker phone as Gus stops in front of me. I almost run into him, but luckily I am able to stop. He bends over a little, silently asking me to get onto his back. I laugh, making him look back at me. He smiles at me, his dimple filled smile. I jump up and he quickly grabs my legs and wraps them around his torso before I use my free hand to wrap it around his neck. He starts to walk, making sure that I don't slip or fall.

"Well, I got the nicest surprise today from someone I don't believe either of us has met. After you called me at lunch, I got a knock at the door and I couldn't believe my ears when she told me who she was. I invited her in and we have been talking all afternoon. Despite how much time you have been spending with her sons, I am surprised that this would be the first time you would be meeting your boyfriend's mother. So, tell her sons not to go home. You can all just go hang out in the backyard." My mother says as we keep walking.
