I wake up to Nicoletta yelling at me to get up. Why are they up so early? And did she say I wasn't safe here? Where else am I supposed to go? What she had just said had not quite hit me yet. I groggily get out of bed and put on the clothing that are set on the bed. A plain grey long sleeve shirt and pants that are made of a rough material. I pull on the sweater I got from last night over the shirt. I find a pair of socks that are thick and seem warm as well as the boots I got last night. I exit the room and bump into Everly in the hallway. She passes me a black jacket and grabs my arm leading me towards the door.

When we enter the street I notice that there are a lot more people then there were yesterday. They must all be starting their work day. Apparently after the age of fourteen everyone is forced to work. They get up early to start working and finish at sun down. I read all this in one of the books I borrowed from Nona, I also read that since most of the year is winter the days are shorter. Unlike on Hiraeth where Summer rules most of the year. The days are hot and the nights are cool. Since the days are longer the work hours are also much harder.

I suddenly remember that I am to keep my hood up at all times and keep my head ducked down. So I pull up my hood. The roads are slowly getting more crowded and I start to lose sight of Everly who seems to have no trouble gliding through the crowds. I walk faster trying to catch up to her, not paying attention to where I'm going. Abruptly I crash into someone. That someone stays standing while I fly down and hit the floor. The person does not offer me a hand but continues to stare at me. That is when I realize that my hood had fallen off during the commotion.

I stare at the man who I had crashed into. The man was tall and sturdy. He had on a black hoody and black pants. The man's eyes were a vivid blue. His hair was a dark shade of brown that contrasted well with his skin tone, which was pale. Suddenly I realize that we are standing in the middle of the crowd and that I have lost Everly. I try to walk past him but he grabs my arm and pulls me away. I flinch from his touch. Im not used to being touched by another human.

"Who are you?" And where are you from?" He asks. His tone of voice harsh.

"Why in the world, or in any world, would I ever tell you?" Who does he think he is, ordering me around? "Who are you?"

"I am Orion, now tell me who you are?"

"My name is Ambria and Im from here where else would I be from?" How could he possibly know that I'm from somewhere else. And then I realise that my hood had come off and I don't look like any of the other people around us.

"You have an accent and your skin is tan. No one around here sounds like you do and definitely no one looks like you." What am I supposed to know?

"I don't know what your talking about?"

"Stop lying. You know exactly what i'm talking about. Ambria I'm not going to hurt you I just want to know where you're from." Should I trust him? Maybe if I tell him where I'm from he'll leave me alone.

"Why do you want to know?"

"I have my suspicions and I just need you to confirm. I think I might be able to help you if I'm correct." Maybe he will be able to help me. Plus if he doesn't know what i'm talking about

"Ill tell you but you have to promise not to tell anyone. I'm from another planet, Hiraeth, I teleported here. I landed at the local stables where I found the girl Im bonded with. Do you really think you can help me with any of this?"

"Yes actually I do." Finally Everly reappears. Did it really take her that long to figure out that I was no longer with her?

"Ambria I've been looking for you." Everly exclaims. She glances at Orion and when she notices who he is her eyes squint at him and she glares. "What are you doing with him?" She sneers. What happened to the happy-go-lucky girl I had met yesterday?

"I was just talking to him. What's your problem?" Everly grabs my arm and pulls me back onto the road.

"He's my problem." Everly replies while looking back to where Orion still stands. I glance back and realize orion is still looking at us with a thoughtful expression on his face. "You shouldn't talk to him he's trouble."

"Im trouble and your still talking to me."

"Your different he's a criminal, I was his choice to become one. You never had a choice in this matter."

"Do you even know who he is?"

"Yeah I do we used to go to the same school. Until he dropped out." What could he possibly have done to make Everly hate him so much?

I quickly realize that the less people seem to be on the road. Which is quite strange in comparison to how many people were walking with us just a few minutes ago. "Where are we going?" I ask hesitantly.

"Somewhere where you'll be safe."
