Oikawa has always been interested in astronomy, especially the stars. Maybe it was because his mother always told him that the stars held some magic. How when you wished on a star, your wish would be granted.
Oikawa held onto the small sliver of hope that his wishes would come true. Of course, it never really happened.
He still believed his mother was right though. So, he kept wishing every night as he sat on the rooftop of his apartment.
Waiting for a star to shoot across the night sky, or fall. He never really knew.
Oikawa would wait all night if he had to. Just to see a star, and hope for his wishes to come true. Once a day, that was his routine. Waiting all night, for as long as he needed. Most of the time, he was lucky and the stars shot by fairly quickly, so he could actually get some sleep.
By gazing at the stars, he soon discovered that the starry, night sky wasn't just an empty void of space. It held so much more, and all Oikawa really wanted to do was be up there with the moon. To have his own cluster of stars to depend on, but it was just a dream.
You see, Oikawa was jealous of all the planets, stars, and even the moon. They were filled to the brim with so much beauty, so much hope.
Unlike him.
Well, at least that's what he thought.
