Chapter 2
''I can't believe this is happening.'' Roxy groaned looking toward the heavens, her long brown hair cascading down her back and onto the floor.
''Really? Cause I can. We've always had luck of the shittiest quality.'' I half laughed out of
frustration as I used my teeth to untie her wrists. She sighed with relief when they came undone. She pulled the bag of her head and mine. Then began working on my rope. ''Honestly I'm more worried about those guys.''
''Why are you so worried about them?'' Roxy looked at me like I had lost my mind tenfold. Her ocean blue eyes were still tear-stained. The only reason I knew this was because of the yellow-orange track lighting around the perimeter of the trailer of the (I assumed) armored truck. ''Well, think about it, Rox. Think about what they did to me.'' I said as my ties came undone as well. I touched the huge bump on the side of my head where the flashlight had made contact. There was a little cut from the edge of the flashlight; a small bit of my hair was glued to my head from the blood. ''If they were willing to do that to a woman, how far do you think they would go to injure a ma-'' I got cut off as we heard the familiar sound of a screaming douchbag and a door being beat down. After a few warnings to the boys, the officer in charge had the others break the door down completely. We heard the boys and officers screaming and yelling. In particular, I heard one boy scream in German, ''setzen Sie sich zur Wehr; Sie müssen sich zur Wehr setzen!!!'' Followed by what sounded like a lot of physical violence. I still remember a little from my German classes in high school so I knew the boy had said something about fighting back. Brave. Very brave.
Quite quickly, the noise died down a bit and all we could hear were footsteps. Roxy and I backed as far against the back wall as we could and then remained very still so they wouldn't know we untied our hands. The doors were unlocked and thrown open. Even if we had still had the mesh bag type head cover we could still see what was going on. It was really meant to keep bystanders from knowing whom they were taking. First, a boy with a slightly rounded face and long, light brown hair was thrown in and landed with an ''umph.'' Next was a boy with short blonde hair who saved himself the pain of being thrown in and just climbed in the best he could without the use of his hands.
''Hey! They're a matching set, boss.'' said one of the lower ranked officers as he shoved a boy, who had long dark hair with platinum blonde highlights, toward the truck.
''gehen Sie zum Teufel!'' The boy snarled before being forced into the van as well. ''Speak English dumb fuck!'' barked the commanding officer as he pushed the next and final boy
toward the van. He looked completely identical to the last boy thrown in except this boy had light brown dreads, very long dreads. His lip was bleeding and he had one black eye. He had a lip ring in the other side of his lip and it looked as if the piercing had been torn, not out, but just enough to pain him. He glared at the commanding officer and snarled, ''How's this for English? Go to hell you ignorant mother fuckers and suck my !@%$ while you're at it!'' He spit in the officer's face and was instantly punched right in his nose. I heard a crunch and couldn't help but squirm. The officer then kneed him in the stomach and two other officers threw him in the van and locked the door again. ''Tom!'' The twin shouted, rushing to his injured brother's side. The two other boys followed suit. The van started moving again. I rushed to the boy's side as well and the other twin was in a panic. ''Er verliert viel Blut. (He's losing a lot of blood.)'' ''I see that, err, ich sehe das.'' I corrected myself as I untied Tom's hands. I took off the robe that I had on and gave it to him. ''Verwenden Sie gerade viel Druck. Kippen Sie Ihren Kopf zurück. Es sollte bald anhalt- Ugh! Do you speak English well? 'Cause that would just make things a lot easier.'' I had been telling them to stay calm, tilt your head back, use firm pressure, and it should stop soon but I just got flustered.
''Yes. We speak English. Thank you for your kindness.'' The un-named twin said with a thick accent that I thought was very beautiful. ''It's no problem. I couldn't just sit here and watch.'' I gave a small smile as I then untied the other twin's hands. ''So what are your names?'' Roxy asked suddenly but in a slow, cautious voice as she also freed the other two boys. ''My name is Bill; my brother's name is Tom.'' He said then looked over at the other two, as did I. You could tell that he was very concerned for his brother. The first to speak was the boy with the long, light brown hair. ''My name is Georg.'' Then the boy with blonde short hair said, ''Gustav.'' He gave a short half wave then fell quiet again.
''Well, I would say it's nice to meet you had this been a different situation but unfortunately it's not.'' I paused just long enough to pull the robe away from Tom's face, ''Okay, get ready to hold your breath and to feel a hell of a lot of pain.'' I put my hand on his nose and his eyes grew to the size of dinner plates. He started to object, 'What! OWWWE!!! ! (damn it)'' He screamed very loudly and threw his hands over his face. ''Man that hurt! What the fuck did you just do to me??'' He questioned me with disdain.
I laughed and rolled my eyes, ''I, the mean old wicked witch of the west, just saved your pretty little nose from being forever ruined.'' ''Oh.'' He said simply. ''So, what were your names again?'' Gustav asked. ''Oh yeah. Livy you dork.'' Roxy shook her head, ''My name is Roxy, short for Roxanna.'' She attempted a half smile that didn't turn out so well. It really didn't suit her not to smile; she was the cheerful, optimistic one. ''And my name's Olivia or Liv or Livy or whatever else you can think to call me.'' I said as I moved back against the wall again. I sighed heavily and stretched arms up, back arched, and I leaned forward. When I had gotten rid of a lot of my stiffness I asked everyone, ''So what do we do now?''
Annie and all four of the boys looked thoughtful. No one said anything for a few minutes. I wasn't sure if they were all just too afraid to think and speak or if they just really didn't have any ideas. But then Roxy spoke, ''Can we escape from this tank of a truck?'' ''Its possible.'' said a very hopeful Georg, looking around at everyone.''Why don't we look for some way we could break out?'' Annie suggested. ''It's better than sitting here doing nothing.'' Bill agreed. We all got on all fours and crawled around. We really knew that the most we'd find were a few seams from the door but we had to try anyway. After a few minutes we begrudgingly gave up.
''Damn it. Nothing!'' Tom barked just as the truck made a sudden stop, throwing us around a little. We heard the automatic metal on metal sound of a gate opening. The truck moved again for all of thirty seconds before another violent stop (they had to be doing that on purpose). A door opened and closed loudly. The first voice we heard was the commanding officer's. He said something about getting the .prisoners out and ready for inspection. We had arrived at the manmade hell on earth.
