Chapter 8

Shai Pov
Where am I? I opened my eyes confused. I saw Devin sitting beside me asleep. I looked at the IV in my arm and realized I was in the hospital. "Babe you awake?" Devin said grabbing my hand. I looked at him. "Yes" I replied. I took a deep breath and felt a sharp knife like pain up my spine and Rib Cage. I groaned in pain. "Take it easy mama you hurt pretty bad, What the fuck happened?" Devin asked I could see his jaw clenching. I just looked afraid to open my mouth. "Who was it Shai?" He asked again this time squeezing my hand tighter. My left eye was swollen shut from marcus punching me,I had a gash in the back of my head from hitting it on the wall. 5 broken ribs and a few bruises. I started to cry. "Could you call in a Doctor" i asked devin. He stared at me for a few seconds before moving. The doctor came in and I asked Devin to leave. once he stepped outside the door "Is my baby okay?" I asked. "Surprisingly yes we are monitering the babys heart rate right now but everything seems fine, How are you feeling?" He asked. "Im ok im in alot of pain" i responded. "Ill get you some pain medication ordered I suggest you get some rest" he advised me. i simply nodded. Devin walked back in as the doctor walked out. "Why you ask me to leave to ask about the baby?" He asked curious. "If it was bad news I wanted to tell you myself." i responded. A nurse walked in to give me the pain medication she put it in the IV on my arm it stung a little but the Relief was instant. "Who did this to you shai?" Devin asked again this time he was alot more calm and comforting. "I dont want you getting into trouble" i answered him. "I got people for that mama who did this to you, to my baby" he asked again. I looked away i started to feel dizzy. My eyes started to close and within seconds I was asleep.

Devin Pov

I walked up to shai door, I noticed it was cracked open and the shower was running..Why the fuck this girl got the door open while she in the shower I laughed and shook my head at her absent mindedness. It was so damn cute to me. I walked in and saw her laying on the floor naked, Her Towel was across the floor. It was a hole in the wall behind where she was laying. I touched her she was still breathing. She had blood coming from her mouth and back of her head. I picked her up her body was completely dry and cold so I figured she'd been there a few hours now. I wrapped her in a throw blanket and carried her to my car. I gently laid her across the back seat. I closed and locked the door. I sat in my car for a few seconds before I crunk up and drove to the hospital. Whoever did that shit to her gonna regret it. My heart was beating fast as hell, My blood was boiling. I wanted to know who did this shit and I wanted to know now. I pulled up to the ER, Grabbed Shai out the back and carried her in. The nurses brung a stretcher out I gently laid her on it and watched them roll her to the back. I told the nurses how I found her and took a seat in the waiting room. I grabbed my phone and all I could think about was how the fuck did this shit happen. I thought about who and only person came to mind was her faggot ass ex marcus I just needed her confirmation. After about 4 hours a doctor called her name i stood up he walked over to me, I instantly srarted praying I knew this meant bad news. "Sir Shai just came out of surgery, she has some broken ribs and she's bruised pretty darn bad, The baby is surprisingly okay we are monitering his heart rate cause there was several drops during surgery they are getting her situated into a room you can see her in about 30 minutes." He said reading over his clipboard. I nodded my head and sat back down. I could feel the rage building up inside me. I wanted to fucking hurt somebody. I sat there until the nurse came and lead me to Shai's room. I walked in and she looked terrible. Her eye was covered but you could see it was not only blacked but swole. She had a IV in her arm, Her lip was busted and her head was wrapped from the Gash she had. Her body was wrapped up where her ribs are, I pulled a chair close to her and waited for her to wake up. After about a hour I heard her move, I opened my eyes and saw her looking right at me. I instantly felt furious. I just wanted confirmation. She asked for a doctor, I got a Dr and she asked me to leave, I wondered why as i stood outside the door ease dropping, I heard her ask about the baby, I guess she knew Id get mad. I walked back in and all I wanted was a name but everytime id ask her she we wouldnt respond. The nurse came in gave her some meds and walked out. I tried asking again and she fell asleep in mid sentence. I walked out the hospital to my car, If she wouldnt tell me id find out. I pulled up to shai house. I got out my car and started knocking on Shai's neighbors doors trying to find out if anybody seen anything. Everybody claimed they didnt hear or see shit. Im gonna find out what the fuck happened and who the fuck did it. I pulled back up at the hospital, I walked in Shai's room she was awake watching tv. She looked up at me and smiled a little bit. "Hey" she said in a low voice. "Wassup mama how you feeling" i asked her trying my hardest not to let her hear the anger in my voice. "Just hurting" she said before looking away. "You gonna tell me who did this to you now" i asked kind of irritated. She looked at me and nodded. She started telling me what happened up till when she passed out. By the time she was done I couldnt calm down. She looked at me with tears "please dont get into trouble let the police handle it" she begged. I just stared her grabbed her hand and kissed it. I sent my nigga a text

I turned my phone off and let my thoughts take over.

Shai Pov
I watched as Devin walked out the hospital room. He was going home and I knew he was gonna fuck his babymother now. I looked like a old ass punching bag. I started to cry my insecurities were getting the best of me. I sent him a text.
-Could you stay here with me?

The Dr.s said I could go home in a few days. I needed rest and plenty of it in order to heal as fast as possible. I dosed off . I jumped awake feeling a hand go up my thigh. I instantly calmed when I saw it was Devin. I checked the time he had been gone 3 hours and he looked drunk.
