ADANA JACKSON

I gripped the bars and tried to pry them. I have not come up with a plan yet. My head spun, and I sat down to steady the pain. My back was aching, my clothes were filthy, my whole body had cuts and bruises. That giant had thrown me around as if I were a toy, and nobody does that to me without continuing to live. And he had also tortured me, and I'm surprised 12 year old me survived.

Before I come up with my plan, I have to know where I am and the possible escape places. But I have to get out for now. This cage... what is this made of? Come on, all those boring lectures mom told, please kick in. Hey, it's not easy to think of some information when your body is burning inhumanely. What, did you think I'd just come up with a plan after waking up because I had passed out because of the pain inflicted on me?

I counted up to forty. I was thinking clearly now. The bars. I only had to break one of them and I can slip out of this cage. The bar was thick. Maybe I can use my-

No. No. I stopped when I saw the aura materializing aroynd my hand. What am I thinking? Mom and Dad told me to never to use it. And I can't control it that easily. I might destroy everything within a thousand miles...

I have to break the bar in a different way. Before that giant comes back. The bars were thick, but their material was weak. This cage must be pretty old, too. There were other indications, like the rust. I stood up shakily and brushed my hair away from my face. I breathed in and out. One... Two... Three!

I ran straight, jumped up, spun and kicked the bar. Clang. I walked backward a bit, and held my foot. That hurt! But I have to try again. It was dented a bit. Good thing I had slipped on my hard slippers when I was in a rush to go back to bed before Alexander woke up, before I discovered the person making sounds was a boy. Don't know who, I just saw a male figure while I was thrashing before I passed out because of some sleeping gas.

I ran and did the process again. I kicked and kicked until it was on the verge of breaking. When it was, I tried breaking it with my hand, since my feet were starting to turn a dangerous shade of red. I couldn't, so I took off my pink hair clip and started sawing the bar. There was little bar left, so it took me a few minutes to break it.

"Yes!" I fist pumped. Finally! I took off my slippers and braced myself. I stepped out of the cage and felt the cold ground with my feet. The moon must be up, because even though there was nothing but darkness, the cavern had a glow. I could see, but for others it would have been hard. I'm just used to navigating in the dark.

I walked forward counting the paces. After thirty paces, I stopped and turned right into another opening. "One, two, three four, five, six, seven, eight, niiine...." I drifted off.

There were torches around, and there was a huge table and chair. Must be the giant's. But where is he? There has to be an exit nearby. There just has to be. I ran around and around the big cavern, and I couldn't find one. Then, I saw a light. Moonlight!

I looked up and saw that if I could just climb, I can make it outside. And from there on, I'll have to improvise. I started climbing, my hands hurting from small sharp rocks. And, this is so typical, I had put my foot in the wrong hole and I fell, covering my mouth as I fell maybe about ten meters. I crashed and rolled a bit, and I gasped as pain came.

I touched my head and felt a bruise. I winced. I hope I don't get a concussion. Then, I heard heavy footsteps. The floor shook. Blast, the giant must have heard! I limped to a dark corner, but not in time.

The giant, who I couldn't see because he wore a cloak, picked me up not so gently. "Ha! Trying to escape, eh? I'm surprised you broke out of the cage."

I tried biting his hand, but nothing worked. I kicked and thrashed and screamed. But just threw me into a new cage. A bigger one, and harder. The bars were thicker, and when I touched it, my hand felt a faint electric spark. He kicked the old cage away. "Hey!" I screamed. "WHAT DO YOU WANT WITH ME?!"

He merely laughed, and the cave shook. He walked away, yelling, "Get her some ambrosia. I don't want her to look so battered when they show up."

Show up? Who? And where will this idiot giant even get ambrosia? Then, a cloaked figure dropped from above. The figure landed softly, almost making no sound. Maybe a demigod? But who would be dumb enough to join a giant?

The figure crouched beside my cage, and I immediately backed away. The figure extended an arm through the cage with a handful of ambrosia. The figure was a male, judging from the way he moved and his arm. His arm wasn't bulky like a body builder, just fit.

"Get away from me! And no way in Hades am I taking that!" I yelled at him.

He just shook the bag, and I was hungry and in pain. I did say I did not want it, but my face must have said otherwise. I sighed in defeat, and grabbed the bag from him without any kindness. I ate an ambrosia square. To me, it tasted like chocolate ice cream. It tasted so good, and I was already feeling a bit better. It did not satisfy my hunger though. I stopped after two pieces.

"Are you a demigod?" I asked, at the person who stood there, watching me. He just nodded and started to leave. "Wait!"

He turned around and tilted his head, asking.

"One, before you leave, who are you? Two, where the hell am I?! And three... well, are you mute or something?" I asked quickly, gripping the bars tight. Please be stupid and tell me where I am.

He just shook his head yes and started to walk away. I looked at his swishing cloak, and then...

I head banged my head onto the bars. They made a clang sound. I stumbled back and touched my burning forehead. The boy turned around and ran back.

"That got your attention. Answer my questions!" I demanded as I walked back to the bars. I held onto them, but I slid downward and just sat on the ground.

He crouched there so he could see me. He took a small piece of ambrosia and shoved it down my mouth. What the hell?! I just glared at him.

He took off his cloak, and I tried not to let my jaw drop. He has messy silver hair and light blue eyes. His hair glinted a bit because of some of the moonlight that escaped through extremely tiny holes, making his hair shiny? Sparkly? Glittery? Let's go with shiny. He looked perfect for silver hair, it didn't make him look older or younger, just him. He looks around my age. I stared at him, and he smirked. I glared.

"I'm your kidnaper." He said. "I serve the giant, the only demigod here besides you. Face it. You are stuck here. Where are we? In a cavern, Adana Jackson."

I weakly put my hand through the bars, and then slapped him. "Idiot. And how do you know my name?!"

"Pfft, I know because I know." He said. He lifted my chin up, and I bit his hand. "Hmm, feisty. Not that you'll stay here for long though."

He stood up. "What is your name?" I asked.

He shrugged and started walking away. So that's how he's gonna be.

When he was far enough to not hit me, but close enough to hear me, I shouted, "Alright! You don't want to tell me your name, then I'll have to call you Glitter Head!"
