The bell went for the end of the morning period, finally. I fiddled with the ends of my hair as the teacher dismissed us for a short fifteen minute break. Gathering up my books, I strolled out the classroom to find Moon at English.
The hall filled with students but Moon's bright blonde hair is not seen anywhere. I searched until my eyes landed in the near-empty computer room, although I expected nothing of it: Moon was with another girl, who had shiny brunette hair with bright green eyes... much more prettier than me; their heads touched and laughed at each other's hideous joke. Suddenly, Moon's crystal voice spoke up: "I have this friend," I leaned closer to the door, straining to hear as Moon started talking really quietly, "something wrong is with her today, although I have no idea why. You know, sometimes she's great, but sometimes, she gets pretty... quiet and boring," she threw a chuckle that will be delightful to anyone, "but Courtney, even though I only known you for like, the first period, but your great fun... and we have the next period together!" Moon exclaimed in such a exciting tone that she only used a few times on me.
Courtney smiled, her teeth showing that are perfectly straight and pearly white, "Me too, and you are the coolest person ever. Oh," she whispered something to Moon, and they burst out in a roaring laughter, "I know, I'm great." Courtney threw a casual glance at Moon, who took it and blew a kiss at her.
Envy started building inside me. Moon, with another girl? When did she EVER became like THIS? Dumping a best friend just because I said something? I threw a deathly glare at them then pretended to be casual and walked into the room, but my heart was burning with flames. Moon saw me, her eyes widened and immediately jerked away to her computer screen.
"Oh, hey, Moon. Didn't expect to see you here," I said, pretending nothing was wrong. "whatcha doin'?"
Moon nodded so slowly, that it seemed to take an eternity, "Just writing a.. English assignment!" She called, Courtney grinning beside her.
I sighed and gave a bitter laugh inside, I was planning to say something bold and courages, but it came out as a quiet, sarcastic saying: "You don't even have your screen lit up, and your book is upside down."
Moon looked down, as if searching for something, then she shot up: "Allison, I don't know what's with you today. Moody?"
"Today? Today? You know how much I trusted you?" I shot back, my heart literally pounding.
Moon sneered, "I thought you were the best friend who I can share everything, but somehow you changed, even from the beginning of the year."
"I am, and I thought that YOU are the FRIEND THAT I COULD SHARE EVERYTHING WITH!" I nearly shouted, panic rising up to me. By now everyone is staring at us three.
"And aren't you fun!" Moon glanced back at me, her deep blue eyes filled with emotions, "I didn't thought you have this temper!"
"I can't believe you are like this, that I thought I NEVER would-DITCHING a friend so easily, what ARE you?" I said to Moon firmly, tears dancing in my eyes, I blinked hard, but one fell out heavily, dropping down.
Moon stared down at me for a few seconds, the flame suddenly gone: "Allison.."
"Don't!" I used my hand to shield my face from Moon's perfectly structured features, blinding me.
Moon frowned, then the flame rose up once again: "Fine," she coiled her arms across her chest, "sorry, Allison. GO then." She looked behind.
I staggered back, struggling for the handle as my hand was shaking violently. That, I never thought, what Moon actually can become. She was so fun and bubbly and caring... but now? I got the handle and gave a light tug, it gave.
"Moon.. Courtney...." I said between the tears, as I saw ONE tear rolled down Moon's cheek. I backed a few more steps and ran, I didn't know where I was going, but I knew I was going to get away from her-- at least for a few days.
