I woke up and put on my new outfit. I'm 13 today. Oh I'm Precious. Precious Jackson and I'm mixed with black and white. My mom is black andy dad is white. As you might know, I'm a huge fan of Michael Jackson and you are too. Other wise you wouldn't be here reading this book. I don't quite know who my father is. My mom said it's a stupid white man who hates kids.
She must've had a rough childhood because she's strict about mine. She doesn't let me go outside of Dallas unless she's with me and yes we do live in Dallas, Texas. She hardly even lets me talk about my idol. Everytime I bring up my dad she cuts me off with something random.
Anyways, it's saterday and I'm going to TURN UP!! I went down the narrow hallway, following the scent of bacon and pancakes. Mommy greeted me with a warm smile. "Morning Precious." "Goodmorning mommy." "Don't you think you're getting too old to call me mommy?"
I shook my head. Then pouted. "What's wrong? It's your birthday, you're an official teenager." She said setting down a plate of bacon and pancakes infront of me. I saturared my pancakes with syrup. "What about daddy?" She looked at me. "What about him?"
"Why can't I see him? H-." "Precious, eat your food. I don't want to talk about your father." She said in her Texan accent. I was born in California but raised in Texas so I didn't really have an accent. I huffed and took a bite of my breakfeast.
When I finished, I put my plate in the sink and went to my room to do my hair. I had dark brown hair that stopped at my neck. I brushed it and put it in a neat ponytail. I walked downstairs and saw my mom looking at the bills. I sat next to her. "Things will get better."
She quickly put the mail away. "Mommy, please don't keep any secrets from me." I said. She nodded. "I won't Precious. Now go, go. I bet Lyric and Bryanna are waiting on you." Lyric and Bryanna are my bestfriends. We argue sometimes but we get over it.
When I went outside, Lyric was sitting on the steps with her head down. "Hey girl. Where's Bryanna?" I asked. She shrugged. We walked around the apartments and just saw people staring at us. Someone finally had the guts to tell us what was going on. It was that cute boy that every girl liked.
"Precious, someone is looking for you in the front." He said. "Who?" "I don't know. A strange man keeps asking around for you." I looked at Lyric who just shrugged. "Okay thanks Eric." He smiled and winked then walked away.
Lyric and I both giggled and started walking towards the front if the apartments. On our way there, Bryanna came out of her house. "Girl, do you know somebody at the front is looking for you?" She said in her loud ghetto voice. I nodded.
"That's where I'm going now." I pointed to the front and continued walking. They both followed behind me. When we got to the front, Karla the receptionist, was staring at me. "Can I help you?" I asked. "Don't go out there without your mom." She said. "Watch me."
I walked straight out the office building to see a black limo. I didn't see anyone else so I figured it was him. But who was it? I froze up as the thoughts of who it could be came to my head. "Precious, that's the man." Bryanna said pointing at a man standing outside the limo.
He was nicely dressed and had on shades. My two bestfriends held my hand in fear as we all walked up to him. He stared down at us. "Are you Precious Jackson?" He said looking at me. I gulped and nodded. He opened the door and gestured for me to go inside.
I looked at my bestfriends for answers. Their faces were blank. I peeped my head inside and there he was. Michael freaking Jackson. I quickly climbed in. He caressed me and cryed as soon as I got in. "Oh my God." He said.
"What?" I asked confused. "I missed you so much." "Excuse me?" He pulled away from the hug. "She didn't tell you?" "What? Who?" He pulled me into his lap and just cryed some more. My friends were looking at me fangirling. I shrugged.
I then heard a stern voice say my name. Michael and I both looked up. It was mommy. "Precious, what did I tell you about leaving the apartment complex without saying anything? Karla even said it." She said. I looked down.
"Precious get out of the car." "Please, Tanya. Don't do this to me again." Michael said through tears. Again? "Michael let her go." "Can you guys tell me whay's going on." "I'm your daddy and I've been looking for you for 13 years. I've finally found you." Michael blurted out.
"Your are not her father! Now Precious, get out of the car!" "I am her father and I will do everything in my power to see her." "Good luck with that 'cause I have a bad ass lawyer!" She yanked my arm pulling me out of the car. Michael got out behind me.
"Please Tanya. Why did you take her?" She paused. "You're a child molester, Michael! You're a pedo! You bleached your skin for crying out loud and you ask me why I took Precious from you!" I've spent my whole life prooving to people he doesn't rapes kids and sgevsays, that! "Wait a minute. Mommy he never touched th-."
"Stay out of this Precious." Mom said. I looked down. Mom pulled my arm to go back to the apartments but I felt someone tug at me shirt. "Please Tanya. Why should you keep a child from her father?" "It's going to ruin your career."
"Think of a better excuse." He said rolling his eyes. Mother scoffed and pulled me back to the gate. "Wait." I said. I pulled awat from mommy and ran into Michael's arms. He cried on my shoulder. I cried a little too. I've only known this man for a few minutes but it seems that I've known him my whole life.
I noticed that his ears were wiggling. Mine do the same when I'm eager for something. I cried knowing this will probably be my last time seeing him until I turn 21. He kissed my cheek before saying, "I love you" then letting me go.
I looked back at Mic-...err...daddy and waved. He waved back and half smiled. I went back to the gates of the apartments and went home without talking to anyone. When I got home I went to my room and slammed my door.
My mom swung open the door. "What is your problem?!" "Talk about keeping secrets." I mumbled. "Okay that's it, I'm done!" She walked out. "Daddy would've known how to handle you." She stopped dead in her tracks.
"So that's what this is about?" "Mommy, what isn't this about? That's my dad....and you....you kept him from me for 13 years." "You don't understand." I got up and got in her face. "No, you don't understand. You don't know how it feels to go to a daddy-daughter sleepover and not have your daddy there! You had a father in your life!"
"Precious, I'm giving you 5 seconds to get out my face." She said. She started counting.
"5..."
"For keeping secrets."
"4..."
"For keeping him out of my life."
"3..."
"For hurting me mentally."
"2..."
"For hurting him mentally."
"1..."
"For walking away."
She raised her hand and slapped me....hard.
