Just a wave

Aphmau was always a shy but kind girl. Because she was so shy she only had a very little close group of friends. Sadly her best friends went to a different school after they graduated elementary school but they still kept in contact. In high school, Aphmau would keep a straight face and rarely smile. It was always hard for her to make friends since she was so shy so she was always lonely. But one thing always made her smile no matter what (well.. other than video games and anime) and that was singing.

Aphmau's POV:
It was fourth period so my whole class separated to go to their talent classes, mine being chorus. We went through the usual routine of warming up and practicing songs for our upcoming winter concert. I love singing so much. I can be free with my voice and it always makes me so happy. I may be shy during class but once I'm stage with everyone else I don't feel scared at all. Anyway, after class my teacher Mrs. Donna told me to stay a little bit after class. She told me it wasn't something bad but I was still worried.

"What do you need Mrs. Donna?" I asked.

"Well, do you know how the select chorus is going to sing at the local bookstore?" Mrs. Donna asked

I nodded.

"Well, I would like you to join too! You have a beautiful voice and I would appreciate it if you joined! So, what do you say?"

My eyes lit up with excitement and I couldn't help but smile. "Of course! I would love too!"

"Great! Rehearsals start tomorrow after school so make sure you come!"

"I will, i'll see you then Mrs. Donna!" I waved her goodbye and happily went to lunch.

I got my lunch and sat down at my usual spot. Alone. It always made cry on the inside that nobody would sit next to me or talk to me. They don't seem to hate me, they just ignore me and think I'm not there.

No! I shouldn't be thinking like this now. I should be excited for rehearsals tomorrow. I wonder what songs we're going to sing...

Time skip to the next day after school because I can

I walked to the chorus room and waited outside with the others to go inside. Once we were inside Mrs. Donna arranged us by height and our voices. It took a while but eventually she smiled and walked out of the room to get the music and lyrics sheets we needed.

"Hey." I looked next to me and saw A boy with blond hair and sea blue eyes.

"Hi!" I said cheerfully, nobody's really talked to me unless it was for something like homework.

"Do you like singing?" He asked.

"Well I wouldn't be here unless I did now would I?" I remarked and couldn't help but smile.

"Heh right, sorry. My names Garroth." He said

"My name is Aphmau! It's very nice to meet you." I said with a bright smile still plastered on my face.

"Soooo...what grade are you in?" Garroth asked

"7th grade. I'm guessing you're in 8th grade since i've never seen you before." I answered.

"Nope. I'm in 6th grade." A smirk tugged at his lips.

"No you're not."

"Yes I am."

"No you're not. You're lying, I can hear it in your voice." I said.

"Ugh fine you're right. I'm in 8th grade. I'm surprised you knew I was lying."

"It's easy for me. People change their tone of voice whenever they lie."

"Really? I guess I never noticed. Anyway, how long have you been singing?" He asked.

"I always loved to sing since I was little! I used to sing with my friends all the time!" My grin widened as I remembered all the good times back then. But then my smile faded.

"What's wrong?" Garroth asked

"Huh? Oh! It's nothing."

Before he could say another word, Mrs. Donna came in and we started.

Time skip to the next day at school because I'm lazy

The next day was the same old lonely school day. With an exception of two things; chorus class and Garroth waving to hi to me in the hallway.

I don't know why. But it seemed that every time I saw that wave, my heart fluttered and why shoulders felt lighter.

Ever since the first day we met Garroth and I would always say hi to each other in the hallway and sometimes talk to each other on our way to our next classes. Every time we talked my heart would soar and I would smile like and idiot for the rest of the day.

Time skip to after the bookstore show

As we finished singing and took a bow, we separated to talk before heading home.

Garroth and I talked and joked around as we usually did until it was time to go home.

But as I was walking home I realized something.

Garroth and I have no reason to talk anymore. Practice is over so there's no reason for him to talk to me...

Time skip to school... Again

I walked to my next class sadder than usual.

He's going to be like all the others

I sighed and continued walking until I saw Garroth and he did something that made my whole world light up once again.

He waved.
