Long ago, I proved I was something more than what people thought I was. They thought I was a nobody. I knew I was a wolf. A very special, talented wolf. I could only wonder as I twisted through the misty skies: What if it wasn't me? I could feel the wind through my fur as I flew between trees and into clouds and under curved rocks that twisted into a circle. I wasn't the only one though. My brother Bolt was the exact same way. Wings and all. Was I a nobody? I felt like it. But no matter how many idiotic wolf pups say I'm not enough, I'm always going to prove them wrong. And I won't let them bring me down no matter what. I dove, my paws scraping the surface of a lake. My tail whipped around like a furry kite. I could hear their laughter...."It's a bird! It's a plane! Oh... It's just her," I landed on the grassy, rock covered shores. "ROSE!!!" My brother called, "MOM SAYS ITS YOUR TURN TO LEAD THE HUNT." Grrrr, the hunt. Every night my family forced either me or Bolt to lead in hunts. "Fine, I'll be there in a minute!" I called back. The den was not far. All I needed to do was...."Oh...my...." Trees. Several trees. I inhaled. I exhaled. Breathe, Rose, breathe. I dashed in and out of bending trees and curved branches and ferns and pines galore. I stopped at the mouth of the den. I folded my wings and walked inside. There was Mother laying on the ground, our father was not yet home, and Bolt, wings folded and yawning like he hadn't slept in forever. He walked over to me. "What took you so long?" He asked, teasing. I gave him a good snarl and swipe on the nose before I walked over to Mother and urged her to get up. "Ready for the hunt Mother?" I asked. She yawned and stretched, then replied. "Oh yes, I have a good feeling about this on—" she was on the floor again, snoozing away. I giggled and Bolt rolled his eyes as he walked over and urged her to move. Then we set off, eager to run after some stags or corner a hare or just whatever would get us some food. "There." I said. "Near the rock." There was a beautiful white stag with shining blue eyes and antlers that looked as if they were made of ivory. Slowly I crept up to a nearby tree. I hopped on the lowest branch. Effortlessly, I made my way to the top. Mother cornered the stag from one side, and my brother was on the other, sort of in the middle. Bolt spread his wings, making himself look larger, and trapping the stag. Then I spread my own wings, gave a very loud howl, and dive bombed. I let my claws sink into the stag's side. I cried out. I could feel a strange vibrating sensation. I could hear my mother's scream. I could hear Bolt howling in pain. All went black. All I saw was a misty sky.
