"So you mean to tell me they just disappeared?" he asks surprised.
"Literally, we were about to leave and go to the movies but this girl here of course just couldn't stay out of the mirror. It wasn't even that long of a break probably like 45 seconds, by the time we made it out of the door they were gone...literally gone and their clothes were still sitting in the seats, even moms purse. She never leaves her purse."
"You do know you can't call the police, right?" he says.
"We've got to get out of here and figure this thing out."
Sylus has been my bestfriend through middle school, high school and everything after that. He's South African with long dreadlocks down his back with these beautiful green eyes, and smooth caramel skin. He's a very beautiful man. We never made a move on each other because we respected our friendship too much and at a moment like this I wouldn't prefer anyone else by our side than him.
"I know a place, let's go!" he says taking the lead. One of the many things that I love about him.
We all hop back in my moms car, this time I take the passenger seat while he drives. About 30 minutes in Kayla is already asleep in the backseat. I look at the car radio which now reads 9:07pm. It's now been about an hour and a half since my families "disappearance."
"Where are we headed to Sylus?" I ask.
"My uncle has a house about 20 minutes from Brooksville that he says I can use whenever I'd like, it'd be the perfect place to talk and try and figure this thing out because literally no one comes out here." He replies.
"We appreciate you helping us out, I didn't know anyone else to call that wouldn't think I was lying or crazy..."
"Any time Kia, you know I love you and I'll always be here when you need me."
Just hearing those reassuring words made me smile and feel a little better about the situation we were now faced with.
When we pulled through the driveway I was in awe at how beautiful this place was. It was this little wooden house hidden behind a huge Maple tree. It seemed so tranquil out here and I never knew this place even existed although I've lived in Florida all 19 years of my life.
"Kayla, we're here." I say shaking my sisters leg. She's still clearly exhausted and plants herself right on the couch as soon as we walk over the threshold.
Sylus and I take seats at the dining room table.
"So where's your head at Kia?" he asks appearing to stare through my soul.
ALL OVER YOU AND YOUR BEAUTIFUL AURA.
"Honestly I've always had a feeling that something like this would happen to my family, as you know we've always been interested in things otherworldly. Just ultimately trying to seek truth because you and I both know that what "The Man tries to tell us is true is actually quite the opposite. I'm not sure if they are the ones who came and got them or if the Gods wanted to come talk to them..."
Besides my siblings and my mom Sylus is the only person that I feel comfortable speaking about this stuff with because he never judges and he's very much so enlightened as well.
"If it was the government you can't go back home, they'll be looking for you there. If the Gods did come down and get them there is a high possibility that they'll be back and they can find you know matter what. Although, I don't believe they are the ones that would try to hurt you or your family." he responds.
"I agree, I've got to be strong for my family especially my little sister sleeping on the couch over there." I smile looking at my mini me. She's only 16 but has a brain that could blow most of the kids her age out of the box.
"Kia listen to me," He starts. "I will be right here for you and your family until WE figure this thing out, I'm not going anywhere. You can count on me."
He stares at me with those breathtaking green eyes and I know that every word that he speaks is sincere.
"Thank you Sylus, I appreciate you so much.." was all I could manage.
"Let's get some sleep for the night and start fresh in the morning? What do you say?" he says.
"I like that idea." I smile.
"I'll get Kayla a blanket and extra pillows and you can make yourself comfy in the first room on the right. My cousin has plenty extra clothes in there to change into if you'd like." he says a very sincere voice.
I do as he says and before I know it I'm quick to sleep.
