"I have to go. I'm sorry."
"What?!" I could see the hurt and suprise swirled together in Vinny's eyes.
"My dad and I... we're uh... moving."
He was silent, his lips pursed together as he stared down at his feet. "It's so...sudden." He mumbled.
"I'm sorry, Vinny. I really do want to stay. I'll miss you so much." The tears forced their way out of my eyes as Vinny wrapped me in a hug. "One day, if I come back, you will be the first person I look for. I promise."
Vinny gently pulled away from the hug and looked into my eyes. "I love you."
"I love you too." It was the first time we had said it to each other.
My dad opened the front door and called out to me. "Elaine, hurry up. We have to go now."
I got the hint from my dad's demand. The time machine was ready. As I took one last glimpse at Vinny, he grabbed me gently around the waist, pulled me close, and gave me a kiss. Why did I have to leave?! "Goodbye." I whispered as I walked away. I started to sob. Back to 2070.
