Chapter 14: Wolves can See in the Dark!

Ponzu was about to take a step into the very dark room, my guess was so she could try and find a light switch, but I could see into the darkness and if she took one more step she would fall; a long way down. I grabbed her by the back of her shirt and pulled her back.

"Don't just go in there when you can't see. You almost fell off, probably all the way down." I told her.

"Then how do we see to get through...Wait how do you know I was going to...Momoko! Your eyes are glowing!" Ponzu yelled once she turned to face me.

"Actually they are really just reflecting the light, even it's just a small amount from under a door...we have to walk in a single line to get to the door on the other side and not the one on the far left." I answered taking a single step into the room.

"What?"

"There's no way for us to get to that door over there, but there is a door to the far right. The single path leads that way and there is also a small bridge to get to it. They tend to get rid of a lot of people from the start so they place a lot of trick...reason for it's name." I said.

"So fruit if you can see in the dark, are you going to lead us?" Hisoka whispered into my ear from behind me.

I let out a low growl, and then I noticed that Ponzu had a look of horror as she looked at Hisoka. If I lead that means she would be in-front of Hisoka....No Way!

"Nope...Ponzu, you get in-front. Don't worry if you get close to falling I'll pull you back so just follow my instructions ok. " I said pulling Ponzu in-front of me facing the dark room and I kept my right hand on her shirt collar.

"Y...Yes...I trust you." she said sighing in relief.

Just then I felt a hand and long fingernails ran across my exposed stomach...curse this short tank top and jacket...most of all though curse this damn clown!

"WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!?" I snapped growling as I used my left hand to grab his hand and lightly dig my nails into it.

"Hmm....but I can't see in the dark and you said it yourself. 'we have to walk in a straight line' meaning single file and very close as to not fall off." He whispered against my neck sending a shiver down my back.

"Fine. But if you try anything funny or if your hand goes anywhere else then I'll kill you on the spot. Ponzu and I can always take the hunter exam again next year...you understand?" I said removing my nails and hand from his.

"Perfectly." he said wrapping his other arm around me.

THIS DAMN CLOWN! WHO DOES HE THINK HE IS?!?!

I managed to calm down and get us through the path and to the small old bridge. Like one you might see in a jungle over a river and one wrong step could break the wood underneath you and you fall to your death...one of those types of bridges. On the other side of it was a big door with an x and o about it ...same as the watches so this proves that this is the right door.

"Ok, this bridge looks old and rough, like it could go at any moment. Best to cross one at a time. Ponzu you're first." I said grabbing her hands.

"Ok."

"Take slow cautious steps and keeps your hands on these rails." I said placing her hand on the hand rails or ropes of the bridge.

"Ok." she said softly. I could tell she was a little scared but more nervous then anything else.

"Then when you get to the end, you will need to step up onto the other side; put your hands straight out in front of you when you step up and slowly walk straight to find the wall. Keep close tot eh wall and don't move until we get over there ok?"

"Ok." she said taking the first step. It only took about a minute for her to cross.

"Ok. I'm at the wall!" she yelled through the dark.

"Good job!...Ok Clown you're next." I said grabbing his hand and placing them on the rails.

He started walking slowly across but stopped in the middle after we all heard a loud pop...Oh no! I didn't think twice before I leaped from my spot tackling Hisoka and both of us landed on the other side as the bridge collapsed. Even though we made it to the other side we landed with me laying on-top of Hisoka and I pushed myself up enough so I wasn't laying on him but hoovering over him.

"You guys ok?" Ponzu asked very worried.

"Yeah...you ok clown?"

"Yes." he said with a strange tone to his voice.

I tried to stand up but pain shot through my right ankle and left wist when I pushed up more causing me to fall back onto Hisoka.

"Momoko?" Ponzu asked hearing me whine and fall back onto Hisoka with a thud.

"Damn, looks like I got a broken ankle and wrist."

"What?" Both of them asked.

"Ponzu don't move, I don't want you to fall off and Hisoka...just stay still and bare with me a little longer. I'll move in a little bit after I fix my injuries." I said and so I started with my wrist.

In my pack or village I should say; once you turned 4 in human years you had to learn how to heal, all Wolf Demons have the power to heal. We can heal our own broken bones by wrapping our hands around the injury and focus the power there (like Kurapika's chain with his arm and it also glows green when I heal). Cuts are healed by licking the cut on ourselves or even on others. However if the cut is deeper like a stab wound or someone else has a broken bone or more then one broken bone a kiss would heal it in minutes or even seconds but still be sore. Other times we can just give them some medicine that my pack was known for making, for those who didn't want to kiss to heal. It takes longer to heal but works just as good.

I healed my broken bones and then stood up and helped Hisoka help. Next I helped them push the buttons to open the door and soon light flooded through as we stepped into the next hallway.

"Are you ok? You sure you should be walking on that ankle? Didn't you say it was broken?" Ponzu asked.

"I'm fine. See it perfectly fine...it's healed." I said showing her the ankle and my wrist.

"What are you?" Hisoka said with some bloodlust slipping out and I could hear him grab a card and point it at me, from where he stood behind me.
