Sedamentary rocks are of-ten soft and crumbly .
Fossils of plants and animals can sometimes be found in sedimentary rocks.
Formed from sediments that have fallen to the bottom of the sea .
They have layers in the rock.
Examples are limestone , chalk , clay and sandstone .

Igneous rocks
Igneous rocks are ushally hard
The rocks are made from either magma or lava
The word igneous comes from the Greek word "fire "
Examples are basalt or pumice .
These rocks often look glassy , have crystals or bubbles in them

Metamorphic rocks
The word "metamorphic " means "changed "
They are extremely hard rocks that don't get wethard or eroded away easily
Rocks have been heated or squashed ( put under pressure )
Examples are marble , slate and rocks containing quartz .
They are made from sedimentary or igneous rocks that have been changed .
