Kenzie:
Kenzie sat on the band room floor, her back against the wall and her eyes shut. She breathed in a breath of fresh air conditioning and smiled. The electricity had been on for an hour now and she couldn't be happier. Sure it was still pouring outside, and monsters invaded the world, and she didn't know if her and her friends were going to stay alive, but she had hope.
She had hope that one day, this would all be over. She had hope that one day, her and her friends could go back to being safe. She had hope.
She opened her eyes and looked around the room. The small tv was filled with emergency information. Words flashed as an emergency official spoke about the army doing sweep s for survivors.
Jeremy sat by the television and took notes about the times and zones they were sweeping. Apparently, their zone was being checked tonight at around midnight.
Kenzke turned to the small analog alarm clock that now glowed red. It read half past five. Kenzie smiled to herself, Just seven more hours until we're saved.
She got up and walked around the band room. In one corner, Nick and Delance were playing cards in the light. Taylen layed across Nick's lap, enjoying the A.C.
In the back of the room, Zach was tinkering with a handheld radio he managed to fine. While Josh was listening to music on his phone.
Kenzie made her way to the kitchen only to find Bronson and Oshea were cooking. They managed to find a small electronic stove and found some beans.
The smell of hot food made Kenzie's stomach growl. She hasn't eaten rral food in more than a day. "That smells so good," Kenzie said.
Bronson smiled and muttered a weak "Thanks." Noone seemed to be in a talking mood. Even though the electricity was back on, they still all seemed so sad. As if they've given up on any hope of survival.
Kenzie made her way back to the main room and sat in the middle of the floor. The others glanced her way but went back to what they were doing.
Kenzie glanced over at Jeremy's makeshift Captain America shield and smiled. That was a really creative idea to make a shield out of the almost indestructible cymbal.
Heaven knows that if Angel were here, he would be giving Jeremy hell about using the cymbal that way. Kenzie chuckled at the thought of the two arguing over the small cymbal.
She shook her head and leaned back on her hands. The military officials went off the air about five minutes ago, but Jeremy still sat at the desk by the television, watching as if the reporter would come back on.
They were all so serious, Kenzie felt the need to lighten up the mood. She remembered earlier, when they were singing that song.
Everyone looked so happy, and carefree even in these times. But as soon as the song ended, the dread filled the room and they went back to being sad.
Kenzie shook her head and got up, she walked over to one of the open lockers and grabbed an instrument. She didn't knkw what it was but she took it to the desk by Jeremy and slammed it on the desk. "Play something," she demanded.
Jeremy looked at her with a raised eyebrow, "What?"
Kenzie opened the case and saw a shiny trumpet. She picked it up and handed it to him. "Play something. Anything."
Jeremy shook his head, "Not right now-"
"No," Kenzie said sternly. "Now." She glarred into his eyes until he took the instrument from her. She walked over to the big lockers and took out a bass drum. She grabbed her mallets and began playing a beat on it.
