I'm so sorry for not updating for like a month but I will do my best to continue weekly now!
Jack sat on the steps outside his house holding the ice on his cheek. Jack took out his phone and looked through his texts.
He had two from Matt, asking where he had been, a missed call from Nash and a text from Andrea.
Andrea: Jack I'm so sorry about earlier
Jack deleted the message and looked at his texts from Matt.
Matt: Jack, shits going on at the bridges, get down here.
Matt: Dude, that guy Johnson is stickin up for you get your ass down here before his ass gets thrown off the bridge.
Jack shoved his phone back in his pocket and threw the ice onto the lawn then ran to his car and quickly jumped in. He started the engine and sped out of the driveway.
It was a good ten minute drive to the bridges, Jack was thinking.
'Why do I care about this dumb kid?'
Jack didn't want to go to the bridges, if it were Nash or Taylor who were in the fight. Jack definitely wouldn't be speeding down there.
Jack knew the reason to why he cares about this boy, but he couldn't admit it. Not to his friends, not to Johnson, not to himself. To Jack, the truth was not a practical option.
Jack arrived and sprinted down the small road to the old metal bridge. The bridge got closed after a gas tanker exploded at one end and blew up half of it. No one ever bothered to fix it.
Jack saw Johnson on the ground, curled up in a ball. Jack sprinted faster than he had ever before to the vulnerable boys side. Jack pulled one of the guys off of him with so much force he tripped over and fell into the side of the bridge. Jack punched the other boy in the face, right in his nose. The boy stumbled back and clutched the railing with one hand, his nose with the other. Jack pulled Johnson up to his feet and pushed him in the direction of his car.
"Matt!" Jack yelled to Matt who was about fifteen feet back from the fight along with four or five others. Matt started joggins towards Jack.
"Take him to my house, here's my keys." Jack panicked throwing Matt his keys to the car and house.
Matt sprinted away grabbing Johnson's arm, trailing him behind.
Jack immediately felt immense pain in his face and stumbled back almost falling over. Jack looked up to see one of the guys swinging at him. He ducked in time and shot a foot out at the boy, hitting him right in the crotch. He immediately fell to the ground hitting his head off of the ground. Jack felt someone grab his arms and pull them behind his back. The other boy stood up groaning and started punching Jack in the stomach. With every blow Jack let out a loud groan.
Jack stamped his foot behind him on the boy who was holding him's foot. The boy yelped in pain and immediately let go of Jack. Jack grabbed the boy and kicked him in the stomach. He flew a few feet then scrambled to his feet and ran off. Jack turned back to the other boy who had his fists up and blood dripping down his face.
"Let's go. Petit Filous." He smirked and swung at Jack who didn't manage to swerve out of the way in time. Jack stumbled back slightly and saw the blood drip out his nose. Jack wiped the blood onto his arm and punched the boy right in the nose with a tight fist. The boy fell to the ground clutching his nose. Jack punched him in the face again twice before he stopped and let the boy run away.
Jack stood there, breathless for a few moments, regaining himself. Jack began jogging back to his house and arrived twenty five minutes later to find his car parked in the driveway. He stepped inside to be greeted by two small arms wrapping themselves around his stomach. Jack groaned as he realised they were pressing against the place where they punched him the stomach. JJ immediately sprung off of Jack and looked deeply concerned.
"Babe! Are you okay?" JJ was frantic poking, pressing and rubbing the area of Jack's stomach.
"I'm fine." Jack let out a light laugh.
"No, you need my help." JJ was acting more frantic now, and was starting to hurt Jack.
"I SAID I'M FINE!" Jack yelled and JJ stumbled back, afraid.
"Just leave me alone." Jack began to walk away from JJ and upstairs.
But before Jack could even reach the stairs JJ was calling on him again. Jack rolled his eyes and turned around to face the small timid boy.
"I just have one question." JJ started quietly while staring at the floor. "Why did you come for me?" JJ looked up at Jack with his big blue eyes and Jack melted.
Jack wasn't angry anymore. Jack wanted to tell the boy how he felt. Jack obviously couldn't as he needed to keep up his reputation, Jack couldn't let one feeling get in the way of a perfect picture he's created of himself. Jack would not go back to being 'Jack Gaylinsky' as he was known at his old school. Jack couldn't do it all over again, but he also couldn't let this boy walk away. And for reasons unknown, Jack didn't want him to.
Jack sighed and thought about this question himself. A questions of which Jack actually didn't know the answer to.
"No one deserves to be harmed for their personal choices." Jack said at last, obviously referring to JJ's sexuality. Jack turned around, not making eye contact with the petite boy and walked up the stairs leaving an open mouth JJ leaning against a wall.
