Time for redemption

It was a bone chilling morning in the dark and cold enclosed room with concrete walls that confined me, with a large metal door that had words carved in the wall above it that read 'Trust'. I some times wondered what that meant, whether it meant that you had to trust the cell in order to become comfortable within. I liked to call the door of the cell, 'The entryway' because you go in and never come out.

I had woken up that morning in my 2x2x3 meter cell that had a bed and a small toilet in the corner and a table with a tiny book shelf above it that could only hold two or three books. There was also a small metal caged light on the ceiling for light, since no light would come in through the door.  the bed is next to the bookshelf and the bed almost blocked the entryway, but that didn't matter anyway since no one was coming in and i wasn't going out. there wasn't enough room to even really move around within this concrete cell. The table next to the bed had a small chess board on it, along with a holy bible that was given to everyone that entered, it was like they wanted god wanted to teach every single person that entered about how harsh and brutal he can be to those who have done wrong.

That morning was different. I think everyone within this hell hole could feel it. It was an eerie feeling, it was quiet, to quiet, no talking between cells, nothing. No guards going past the cells could be heard. No morning announcements, nothing. Unexpectedly a loud ear piercing ringing sound came from down the hall way from the speakers at the end of the corridor, it was flooding the hallways and cells with the screeching sound. it stopped suddenly then a moment later all the doors  within the prison opened, except mine I heard all the prisoners running past my cell to the new unknown world and I was left in this hellhole, I thought It was a mistake, yes a mistake I thought, I couldn't of been left I had a feeling of despair in my chest almost like something it was missing within.

That feeling of despair was lingering well after everyone had left, until a guard came by and saw that the door was unopened and said "sorry this door had a faulty installation and doesn't open without  a metal key". CREAK! CLANG! As the large metal door opened after the months or years its been shut, i didn't know how long i had been there for. I booked it down the hallway as fast as i could stumbling a few times due to being locked up. I kept repeating to myself 'This is it, a new chance, a second chance that i had wanted for a long time and its finally come and i shall not lose this opportunity to redeem myself.

After what seemed like centuries of being confined within the prison. I didn't know what to expect after a long time, or if i remembered how to talk or socialize. I finally made it to the outside world past several gates that where previously closed with no guards in sight. And when i ran out of those gates i realized when i saw the city that this wasn't the same previous dirt ridden, smog filled city I once knew. It was clean as if soapy water was poured on it and scrubbed up and town with new buildings and accessories added. I knew I had a lot to learn about the outside world before i was able to truly redeem myself.

End

Notes: i have not been to prison this is all fictional
