***Lauren's P.O.V***

My eyes fluttered open, then quickly shut again, as the blinding light above me made colours dance inside my eye sockets. I sat up, rubbing my stunned eyes. School today! Great! (Note the sarcasm.)

FLASHBACK:

My eyes fluttered open, then quickly shut again, as the blinding light from the ambulances lit up the space around me. I was upside-down, still attached to my seat because of my seat belt. I couldn't hear anything. It was like I was deaf.

I peered out of the window, to see two men in murky-green uniforms checking on someone lying in a stretcher. That someone was my dad. He was bearly recognisable, because of the blood covering his body, and the many pieces of glass sticking out of his limp body.

One of the men looked at daddy and shook his head. The other man covered daddy's face with a sheet.

"DADDY!" I called out for him. But daddy never answered my call.

I looked to my left, to see my mom beside me. Blood plastered her forehead, making her blonde hair stick to her wet face. Her eyes were open, but they weren't moving. Her mouth was fixed into a horrified scream.

"MUMMY!" I screamed, but I couldn't hear myself.

Mummy didn't speak. Mummy didn't move. Mummy didn't breathe. Mummy was dead.

END OF FLASHBACK.

I shot out of bed and shook my head, like a dog shaking it's wet body. I didn't want to remember my past. It would only make me cry on the first day of school. Why did summer break have to end?

I sighed and went in the shower, singing Black Veil Brides loudly.

Yeah, I'm a goth. Normally you wouldn't find goths in the 'popular group', but I guess I'm just lucky.

I got out of the shower and dried my waist-length dark blonde hair (with lighter blonde highlights), brushed my teeth, did my makeup (punk-rocker style as always) and pulled on my clothes.

Today I was wearing black skinny jeans, a red and black checkered shirt, and a black hoodie. I slowly laced up my black converse, preparing myself for the long day ahead.

"Lauren get your fat ass down these stairs right now, or we will miss the bus!" My 'best friend' Kaity yelled from down stairs. I smiled. That was her usual way of telling me to hurry up.

I had been staying at Kaity's house for over a week now, because I'm... What's the word for it? Homeless? No. I don't live on the streets. I ran away from the orphanage when I was thirteen. Now, at the age of sixteen, I sleep at my friends' house. They all open their homes to me, until their parents get sick of me, and then I move on to the next friend's house.

They are good friends. Most of the time.

I bolt down stairs and grab my school bag. I chuckle at the glares Kaity sends my way.

"Aww! Look at your cute little face! Is someone grumpy?" I teased. She smiled a little at that.

"C'mon u little devil." She retorted, dragging me by my wrist to the bus. As we got on, everyone went silent.

We made our way to the back of the bus. That's where the 'popular' people sit. We were greeted by six smiling faces.

They were Mitch, Adam, Jason, Megan, Leanne and Sasha. Along with me and Kaity, they were the populars.

"Hey baby gurl!" Mitch called out to me, winking. I giggled and sat on his lap.

"Hey baby boy!" I answered, kissing his cheek. Me and Mitch are the popular couple. We have the relationship that everybody wanted. I love him, he loves me. Simple.

When the bus reached our school, we all followed Kate (that's Kaity's nickname) towards the school. Halfway there, Kate bumped into a girl purposely. I think this was her way of choosing a victim.

The girl had light brown hair, with purple streaks and a side fringe. Her ears were pierced. Her greenish-blue eyes made her stud nose piercing stand out. She wore a pair of skinny jeans, a black green day t-shirt, red converse and a black and red snapback. What Kate would unfortunately call 'a perfect victim'.

"Watch it Faith!" Kate spat. Faith just rolled her eyes and continued to walk to school.

"That little..."

"Hey Kate? What's your first lesson?" I cut her off, trying to change the subject. I hated it when she bullied people. She calls it 'showing people who's boss', but I can see it for what it really is.

"Music." She answered.

"Me too!" Mitch and Adam exclaimed at the same time. The rest of the group had Maths.

Me, Kaity, Mitch and Adam slowly made our way to class, and sat at the back of the class. We talked to each other in hushed whispers throughout the lesson. We were silenced by a girl slamming the classroom doors open.

She had an eye brow piercing above her left eye. Her blonde hair reached half-way down her back. She had a few freckles and topaz-blue eyes. She wore ripped denim jeans, white high tops, a white vest top, and a light grey beanie.

"What a loser." Kate sniggered, quietly. What was she talking about? I thought this girl looked quite nice. I immediately grew annoyed at Kate, but didn't show it.

"Jade, you're late! Again!" Shouted Ms. Howel, our music teacher.

"Sorry" Jade rolled her eyes. "I slept in"

She took the closest seat to her, next to a Faith, who was tuning a guitar.

"Hi!" I heard Faith chirp.
